Default On The Dr Curt Connors Retcon

I'm a relatively new Spidey fan and haven't been able to keep up with the books due to being rather occupied. I have a couple of questions regarding the way Curt Connors was made more villainous-

What was the issue in which this occured?
    Who wrote it?
Can anyone tell if there was any reason why this change was made?

Couple of stories where Connors went evil again the last few years, from Shed to No Turning Back. You can read up on them for yourself.

Well, Connors didn't go evil in Shed. The Lizard tried to kill the the human part by doing something bad.

Find a story by Paul Jenkins called 'A Lizards Tale'. It's a relatively modern story that looks at Connors motivations. Very good story, probably the best Lizard story I've ever read

    It's the one where he

    spoilers:
reveals he has always been in full control of his actions as the Lizard?
    end of spoilers

Cause that's kind of lame IMHO.

I generally like Paul Jenkins on Spider-Man but that Lizard story bugged me. I don’t mind that Curt retroactively knew Peter was Spider-Man; he interacts with both of them on a regular basis and he’s supposed to be a genius. I just hate that Curt was controlling the Lizard all along (which make no sense).

Having said that, Jenkins’ story has been ignored and the current status quo is the result of stories by Greg Rucka, Zeb Wells and Dan Slott.

Yeah, later writers have wisely ignored that one.

Been some time since I've read the issues, but that seems like an academic thing to say when Connors / Lizard is meant to be the villain of the story.

I suppose you can say that the Lizard is still Connors, just on some kinda primal plane. The story treats them as separate entities, though. Connors is one of the story's victims.
