This is just funny for all the wrong reasons.
It's like, "I know... we'll make it all better, we'll give her a Japanese mother! That'll work."
Wowee, wow, wow.
I shouldn't be complaining though, I'm not going to go see it.
"Gantz:O," baby...
...that's what's up. That's how you do it.

Things get weirder and weirder.
I guess this means the in-universe explanation really will be that the Major is Japanese but downloaded herself into a Caucasian cyber body?
They definitely could make it a point with the Major about losing her original identity to technology, IMO.
"Ignore them. They're nothing but a bunch of basement dwellers who spend all day whining on the 'net. Not a single open-minded one in the bunch."
--Andre Briggs, Justice League International #1
Mother?
Why are they wasting time on this?
Clearly the only people that have a problem with this are forty year old neckbeards who still live in their mother's basements and should get friends and can't understand how their nostalgia blinds them to something that isn't aimed at them but to a new generation.
Or whatever this week's go-to Ghostbusters defense is.
Because this entire project has been a PR nightmare so far and they're now trying to highlight actual Asians being involved?
She was downloaded into a cybernetic body after a plane accident (at least in SIC; I don't know if it's the same in all versions) but I don't believe it was ever specified she was put into a white girl's body.

Can honestly say if I had a choice between living in an artificial replica of my body or ScarJo's, I know which one I would pick.
