I know Sins Of The Past was terrible but maybe in a better alternate universe spin on things here is how it would work out. Instead of Gwen Stacy being a good girl who comes to date Peter Parker instead she is a girl who hides a dark side and an attraction to the Green Goblin. As it turns out when she finds out that Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin are the same she confronts him and actually desires to become his consort. She then allows Norman Osborn to douse her with the Goblin Serum to become the She-Goblin and begins a life of crime with him. In this universe Gwen Stacy still lives but she is a notorious nemesis of Spider Man. In other words this world would be 616 Peter Parker's absolute nightmare.

In this universe Liz Allen and Peter Parker and Mary Jane and Harry Osborn are official couples in this universe. Also instead of Uncle Ben being the one shot instead it is Aunt May who died that night. This leaves Uncle to taking the place of Aunt May's role in the comic.

Another thing that is different is that John Jonah Jameson has nothing but praise for Spider Man and is his greatest supporter. He tries to get the Daily Bugle to have stories dedicated to Spider Man's latest exploits and is always the one to defend him if anyone accuses him of any wrong doing.

I haven't given alternate Marvel universes as much thought as my personal DCU head cannon (some of which I'm super proud of; maybe one day I'll finally break downa and write a fan fic) but this thread has got me thinking.

A lot of these ideas are for a dark mirror of the 616 verse. Since I cant find a reasonable Marvel Version of the Crime Syndicate, I figured I'd merge some of these ideas into...

    EARTH 919:

A cosmic wave caused by the universal fiend Silver Surfer strikes a small space crew, killing Ben Grimm and leaving Reed and Sue Richards infertile. It also gives the three remaining crew members amazing powers. Despite efforts to appeal to the public, repeated vilification and growing desperation over their desire for children push the Richards to lash out, forming the Terrible Two and beginning a life of crime and evil. They constantly dog Johnny Storm, now going by Frostburn, for his DNA, thinking they can unlock the secrets of their impotence and finally ache oven their hearts' desire.

Frostburn flees to the technological utopia of Latveria, whose king Victor Von Doom is currently on the front lines of a war with the neighboring empire of the Black Panther. Latveria a d its advanced Medicine has united Eastern Europe.and Western Asia into an idealist state, and a Utopia for Erik Magnus and his Brotherhood of Mutants for Peace. All of the Eastern part of Asia has been rendered a wasteland of industrial plants by the Iron Mandarin, an armored tyramt who has mysteriously entered a trade partnership with US billionaire Tony Stark.

Little do they know that Stark IS the Western Identity of the Iron Mandarin and has joined forces with the Two and fellow mad scientists Peter Parker and Black Panther to form a Science Cabal operating on US soil.

After years of horrible experiments on alien visitors to Earth (resulting in a pact between the Cree and Skrull to punish Earth for its crimes) the Sorceress Supreme Illyana Rasputin finally figures out a way for Susan Storm to acheive pregnancy. The baby comes to term and she gives birth to a screaming baby boy. The young Steven Roger Storm is frail and sickly, but displays a noticeable psychic prowess, so be is banded over to Charles Xavier and his school for Extrapolation of Gifted Minds for training. The boy's powers begin to grow rapidly. Rasputin notices right away that the power coursing through his mind can only be the Power Cosmic. The force inside him grows, altering his body, making him strong. Naming himself Captain Apocalype, the teenage Storm revives his recently deceased uncle Johnny, and drafts him, the part human Skrull Car-Ol Danvers, Namor the Subterranean, and Ororo Queen of Atlantis to represent Fire, Air, Earth, and Water as his Four Horsemen. His takeover of Earth is so swift, it attracts powerful attention from space, including the Sower of Life Galactus, who outs iht a call to a universe very different from his own to put a stop to Captain Apocalypse.

    Earth-16661 (I)

    The Universe:

In this Universe the Centurii from Proxima Centauri (Milky Way), the Galadorians from the Taloman System (Milky Way), the Gramosians, from the Sekar System (Milky Way), the Hiberiac from the Hunyoc System (Milky Way), the Kallusians from the Kallu-kan System (Andromeda Galaxy), the Majesdanians from the (Andromeda Galaxy), the Thayri (Milky Way), the Xandarians from the Tantra System (Andromeda Galaxy), the Zenn-lavians from the Deneb System (Milky Way), the Astro-men of Saramin (Milky Way), the Banaris from planet Banari(Milky Way), the Contraxians from the Elidra System (Milky Way), the Dakkamites from the Beta Rigel System (Milky Way), the Darbians from Planet Darbla, the Horusians from planet Horus IV, Horus System (Milky Way), the Levians, from planet Levian (Milky Way), the Krylorians from planet Krylor (Andromeda Galaxy) and the Luminas from planet Lumin, Sh’Mengi Star System (Milky Way), all alien “humans” have created a confederation, the Inter-galactic Human Alliance (IGHA), both for mutual defence and to promote technological development and cultural exchange.

They also try to uplift less advanced “human” world, like Ba-Banis, Skaar, Arctarus IV, Clavius, Coconut Grove, Zenn-Whoberis and Earth so they can some day join the Alliance.

Other advanced “human” races, like Axi-Tun, the Ba-Bani, the Deonists, the Sarks, and the Sirians haven’t been invited to join due to their aggressive and militaristic polices, or because of their religious or ideological intolerance, or for their repressive governments.

Some advanced non-human alien species like the Grundars from the Quat System, the Kymellians and the Elans have signed mutually beneficial alliances with the IGHA.

They try to keep peaceful relations with the Kree and Spartoi, that are alien “human” races too, but are expansionist empires on their own right.

The Skrull Throneworld was devoured by Galactus, which ignited a civil war among the skrulls, allowing in turn the IGHA to recruit the Krylorians and Majesdanians, that until that point hadn’t dared to join for fear to the reaction of the skrulls.

The Shi’ar an Kree are in badly shape due to their war. This war is largely nonsensical, since neither side really wishes to fight such a powerful foe, and would rather prey on weaker civilizations, but all attempts to seal a peace have failed badly. The Shi’ar suspect that the Supreme Intelligence is using the Shi’ar as a sparring to train his army and cull the weak.

The Badoon and Dire Wraith formed an alliance and attacked the IGHA, but were soundly defeated; the Dire Wraiths were exiled to Limbo, while the Badoon lick their wounds and wait.

The Rigelians are largely the same as in Earth-616.

    Earth:

The IGHA has an embassy in Rome, or rather, in a pocket dimension coterminous to Rome. Their embassy can be seen as a floating citadel above the city, but it’s intangible and can be accessed only through special portals.

The Alliance uses a policy of carrots and sticks (more carrots than sticks) to encourage Terrans to uplift themselves up to galactic standards, so they can join them in the future. Any country willing to reach the IGHA’s standards of civilization is accepted as a protectorate and put under their military protection, and benefit from alien tech. Most of Europe, half of Latin-America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and several other Asiatic and African nations have already joined.

US is in a strange, middle-ground place; it’s economic and political leaders want to join because of the obvious benefits, but since the Avengers and FF defeated Skrull, Kree and Badoon invasions, most of the American public think that they don’t need help from any alien civilization, plus there is some degree of xenophobia against aliens due to those same invasions.

While the Alliance overtly works to help Terrans to advance to Galactic standards of civilizations, its scientists recently discovered the genetic potential for superpowers in the Terran humans, and are shocked and terrified. Some of them want to discover what it’s exactly that gives the Terrans their powers and transfer it to the whole population of the IGHA, while others are afraid of meddling with the work of the Celestials and think that it would be better to leave Earth alone. A small, secret faction is creating super-villains to stave the advancement of Earth, while other even more secret and diminutive faction plans to destroy Earth.

On the other hand, hostile alien races like the Badoon or the Skrull provides their own Terran supervillains with tech and superpowers so they sabotage the IGHA.

    Super-heroes:

Since the discovery of super-humans, most countries have programs to develop both their own super-soldiers and high-tech anti-super-human elite police and military units. Every country has their own specialty: China has developed many animal-based super-humans, reptilian and insectoid warriors included (think of Armadillo, Orka, Bison, Man-bull, the Lizard, Stegron, Wasp, Spider-man, Spider-woman, Hornet, Human Fly, Antro, Therak, Tarantula, Homo Arachnis…etc.), enhanced with suits of armour and bracers that shoot different kind of rays; Japan focus on very advanced robots and cyborgs; Russia has a lot of incredibly powerful radioactive mutates; Europe is best developing serums, nanotech, internal cybernetic implants and lightweight super-powered suits, while US is best developing exo-skeletons, heavy super-powered armour, and genetic implants.

The IGHA provides their allies with some tech in exchange of dibs studying their mutants and mutates (nothing sinister, they are well treated and are allowed to live freely, but they have to accept periodical check-ups and testings). However, the IGHA refuses to help their allies develop genetic engineering empowerment techniques, and that’s the reason states like Japan or most European countries focus on cybernetics or serums rather than genetic modifications (like the Americans, Russians and Chinese do).

Tony Stark and the US Super-Soldier Program.

Tony Stark is the head of the US Super-Soldier Program, assisted by Bruce Banner, Henry Pym, Bill Foster, Hank McCoy, Otto Octavious, Dr. Malus, Calvin Zabo, Miles Warren and others. Tony Stark favours cybernetics over biological enhancements, and directly controls the elite police units, equipped with power armor, that fights super-powered crime on American soil, but he also keeps a watchful eye on the work of his subordinates, taking care that their secret experiments on the creation of genetically enhanced super-soldiers doesn’t cross ethical lines.
However, some of Tony’s subordinates chafe at his control, and carry on their own risky, unethical projects in secret. Also, Tony Stark’s superior resent that he obviously keeps his best stuff from them, and may be planning to backstab him and steal all of his tech.

US is one of the few countries that allow independent super-heroes to operate. Technically speaking, all super-heroes must register and pass an exam before receiving a super-heroing license, but most young amateur heroes act without license (very few of them see it as their “main job”, but as a side occupation that they will abandon once they grow older, so they prefer not to be encumbered with a track record, and to be able to disappear without fear of repercussions of force recruitment). When an unregistered hero is identified by the authorities, they usually receive a slap on the wrist and are forced either to register or they must go to a special low-security prison for a few months and renounce their super-heroic activities.

    Unregistered heroes.

The most famous unregistered superheroes are Daredevil and Spider-man. Daredevil focus on fighting criminal organizations, and fears that his enemies could get access to the Registry, so he refuses to go legal; also, he sometimes breaks the law in his pursue of justice.
Spider-man is semi-retired. Peter Parker became a forensic, and joined the police. He now fights crime as a policeman, basically doing the same as always but wearing a badge; most of the NYP knows he’s superhuman but most consider him a normal cop anyway, who just happens to be faster, stronger and more agile than normal. He sometimes dons his Spider-man suit to do some extra hours (nobody knows that Spider-man and Peter Parker are the same person, which allows him to beat the crap of some particularly despicable criminals without care for the rules), but he refuses to register due to his strong distrust towards Tony Stark. Spider-man is a legend among all NY young heroes, and has mentored many of them.

Dr. Strange is also an unregistered hero, and everybody knows so, but everybody is too scared of his power to go after him. His help is required not only by Terrans now but also from other planets belonging to the IGHA.

    Earth-16661 (II)

    The Avengers.

Super-heroes who want to go professional and make it into their career usually end joining the Avengers, who are kind of an American Association of Super-heroes. They have a semi-official status, and by government imposition only American citizens are admitted, but foreign super-humans who wish to join have it easy getting citizenship. Extraterrestrial beings and robots aren’t allowed to join, but the Avengers usually turn a blind eye to aliens or robots that join pretending to be humans.

Officially, the leader of the Avengers is president Steve Rogers, Colonel America (aka “Old Fart” Rogers), but since he is about ninety years old (he never became frozen in this reality) and is bound to a wheelchair since a giant mutated gorilla shattered his legs, the actual leadership is shared between the Secretary, Hank Pym, who takes charge of the administration and direction of the institution, and the Vice-president, Captain America, who acts as field commander.

Current Captain America is a Beta Israel (Ethiopian Jew) woman named Sarah. She was chosen due to her incredible ability as an athlete, martial artist and soldier, and because of her balanced personality; since the Super-Soldier Serum is impossible to replicate, she was empowered with the serum that gave his powers the Master Man, so she’s a lot more powerful than Steve Rogers ever was. Sarah feels some insecurity, since she suspects that she was chosen for political reasons; she’s wrong; she was chosen due to her skill and personality, but she still doubts.

“Old Fart” Colonel America, unlike his Earth-616’s counterpart, never was frozen, and lived a long, full life. He is content with his life and proud of what he has accomplished, and since his conversion to Thereanism (he travelled to the heavenly Therea Dimension to fight the demon lord Thog), he doesn’t fear death. Unlike his counterpart he has a sarcastic, irreverent, politically incorrect sense of humour, and peppers his discourse with colourful swearwords and blasphemies. Despite his age, disability and decrepit appearance, he still has fight in him. He broke the neck of Crossbones when he came too close, he killed Crimson Cowl throwing a screwdriver to his eye from thirty feet, and when Red Skull broke into his house and tried to strangle him, he somehow managed to wrestle him into submission and make him swallow twenty-two of his dirty diapers (Red Skull required surgery). Steve Rogers likes to write letters to Red Skull every time Sarah, the new Captain America captures and imprisons him, in which he graphically describes how the mere thought of Red Skull’s humiliation gives him a raging boner.

Henry Pym somehow manages to efficiently carry on both his duties as Secretary of the Avengers and scientist under Tony Stark. Unknown to everybody, some time ago a villain shot him in the head, and his robot assistant saved him turning him into a Deathlock cyborg. Henry Pym couldn’t resist the temptation to enhance his now partially cybernetic brain, and now his spine, cerebellum, medulla oblongata, midbrain and pons have been replaced with a highly efficient Ultronian cybernetic brain. Strangely, Pym seems more balanced and normal than ever, and his enhanced mind allowed him even to definitively defeat Ultron, but if his half-cybernetic brain were to be discovered, he would be hunted and locked in a cell.

    The Champions.

The Avengers can’t operate outside of the US frontiers, but most of his most relevant members are also part of the Champions. The Champions are the international counterpart of the Avengers, founded and led by T’Challa, the Black Panther, and they include among their number heroes from many countries from every continent. T’Challa distrusts the IGHA and created the Champions as a counterbalance; using his Vibranium to bribe other countries and even the IGHA itself, he managed to get recognition for the Champions as an international peacekeeping force tasked with fighting super-powered crime all around the world.

    The X-Men.

Xavier created his school in this Universe too, but Tony Stark contacted him and pointed several perceived flaws in his idea. He pointed how it was a bad idea to present the mutants as a different species than the Homo Sapiens and as the successors of the human race as dominant species on Earth. Tony convinced Xavier to make several changes, to hire PR advisers who changed the image of his X-Men, making them more fashionable. Those advisors also told Xavier to turn his team an example of integration, taking some mutates and cyborgs as members. They also built a whole propaganda engine around the X-Men.

The X-Men largely succeeded: The X-Men are superstars, their adventures are the most successful reality show, there are soap operas about their lives, and they earn millions thanks to publicity only…or at least the pretty ones do. The ugly deformed ones don’t share the fortune of their more handsome brethren, and resent them; those deformed mutants, led by Martin Strong, have formed a faction, the Outcasts, who are tired of living in the shadow of their prettier kin and demand recognition.

Some other mutants got tired of stardom and left the X-Men to pursue a more professional lifestyle among the Champions (Storm, Banshee) or the Avengers (Beast).

Charles was happy with the success of his X-Men, but he felt somehow disappointed that it came at the expense of hiding to the world what he considered an evident truth: That the mutants were a superior race destined to inherit Earth. He didn’t dislike the popularity of his X-Men, but it felt shallow: His attempts to get the mutant race recognized as a superior race weren’t taken seriously by other scientists, who had come to see mutants as nothing more than a curiosity among many others. Xavier eventually retired as leader of the X-Men, naming Cyclops as his successor.

However, when he learned that Cyclops and Tony Stark had teamed to kill Magneto, who was giving a bad name to mutants with his terrorist attacks, Xavier finally disavowed his X-Men and went into hiding in pursue of a new project: He would search and recruit the most powerful of all mutants, creating a secret brotherhood of superior beings that would become the embryo of the true mutant race. To date, he has recruited Jean Grey, Monet, Havok, Polaris, Scarlett Witch, Exodus and Sunfire among others, and would like to recruit Storm.

Cyclops is aware of the flaws of the X-Men, and of the division in the mutant community, but he has greater problems: He knows thanks to Beast that the mutant race is due to an explosive rising of its numbers to several dozens of millions, and that a percentage in between the 25% and the 75% of them will be deformed. Cyclops fears the reaction of Humanity, and is trying to develop a plan for that. As now, he’s trying to repress the Outcasts’ acts of protest, that are slowly approaching terrorist levels of mayhem, as he fights anything that could give the mutants a bad name.
Summers knows about Xavier’s new group thanks to Iceman, who rejected Xavier when he tried to recruit him; Xavier erased the memory of Iceman, but Cyclops detected the manipulation of Bobby’s mind and hired a mystic to restore it.

Kitty Pryde left the X-Men early, not feeling comfortable being under the limelight. She became an anonymous citizen and returned to her studies, until she stumbled upon a dark secret: She pieced together some pieces of information and discovered that the IGHA was afraid of the Terrans’ superhuman powers, and that was studying Terran superhumans in secret. Kitty is trying to gather a group to discover the truth, but doesn’t know in which to put her trust.

    The Fantastic Four.

Reed Richards was approached by the IGHA early, and was made into the liaison between aliens and Terran governments. Reed is invited to collaborate in the work of respected alien scientists, and is kind of a celebrity in the Milky Way, which he often travels. However, at the same time, the FF have managed to keep their independency, being neutral between all factions from US to the IGHA and from the Avengers to the X-Men.

Recently Reed Richards was approached by Kitty Pryde, who had revealed him some disturbing but fascinating secrets…

    Earth 414

    The Dawn of the Superhumans

In 1941 the world changed, and it would never be the same again. The Second World War was in full effect when the Americans unveiled Steve Rogers, Captain America to the world. Though since proven inaccurate, he is widely regarded as the first Superhuman. It sent shock waves through the world and started a new kind of arms race, not only that but small numbers of mutants started to reveal themselves. In an effort to stop America from gaining an insurmountable advantage the Axis Powers sent top agents to assassinate Dr. Josef Reinstein, head of the Super Soldier Initiative. Their mission was successful and Dr. Josef Reinstein perished leaving behind few precious samples of SSS-012.

As the war ended and the world began to heal it was about to find out there was darker times ahead. First contact was made with the Skrull Empire, it didn't go well. Within a week of that contact the Skrull Empire initiated a global assault on Planet Earth. It was during this assault that the first Superhuman team was formed. The media dubbed them "The Avengers" though that moniker was never officially acknowledged. The first team consisted of Captain America, Blue Marvel, Whizzer, King Thakorr of Atlantis, Blonde Phantom and Golden Girl. Blue Marvel proved instrumental in defeating the Skrulls in the final battle, though he was never seen again after single handedly attacking and destroying the Skrull Mothership. Shortly after the Skrull War ended this team disbanded, never to fight together again.

    The Heroic Age

Flashforward to the present. There are more superhumans than you can count. The Super Soldier arms race has never been more fiercely contested, a cold war with Atlantis threatening to explode, dangerous Mutants with criminal intentions, and superpowered dictators threaten world peace. Superheroes have never been more needed, Nick Fury, the head of S.H.I.E.L.D, has initiated the Avengers Initiative.

    The Avengers

The team Fury formed to keep America safe from threats of all kind. Also designed to capture the imagination of the public because Fury's Avengers Initiative has been met with resistance from high up officials. With the love of the country behind this team Fury hopes the oppositions resistance will prove futile.

    Captain Marvel - Carol Danvers
America's premier superhero. Leader of the Avengers. Carols years of exceptional service in both the U.S. Airforce and secret organization S.W.O.R.D left Fury with no doubt that Carol would have no problem following/giving orders. That, in addition to her Beta level power set and love garnered from the American public made her the only choice to lead the team. Carol's Air Force callsign Marvel, a homage to Adam Brashear, was also adopted at her superhero moniker. Currently in a relationship with fellow Avenger Bruce Banner.

Defining Moment: The Battle of New York

Almost 64 years after the Skrull War, the Skrulls made contact again. Skrull warrior Titannus, Herald of Kl'rt, entered Earth's atmosphere alone. S.W.O.R.D were alert to the fact and informed Carol. She met him head on as he entered NY. Titannus, by order of Kl'rt, made an offer. Earth was to submit willingly to Skrull control or be destroyed to the flee. Carol answered with a right fist and the battle waged for 12 hours. After much destruction and the tragic loss of human life, Carol bested Titannus and he is now held in a secret facility.

    Captain America - Isaiah Bradley
America's most loved superhero. The second man to accept the mantle of Captain America and handpicked as Steve Rogers successor by the man himself. Like Carol, Isaiah also provided exceptional military service and was in fact awarded with two Medals of Honour. After his military service he returned home and became a firefighter. Rogers was impressed with his bravery and desire to always help and Fury appreciated the fact he could follow orders. An easy choice all round. Pushing 90 years old, whilst still in remarkable condition relatively speaking, Rogers body can no longer meet the demands of his title and so Bradley is treated with a sample of the precious SSS-012.

    Hulk - Bruce Banner
Dr. Banner was the lead researcher of the Super Soldier Initiative. Genius Banner was a victim of his own arrogance when he started using Gamma energy during SSS tests and it had catastrophic consequences. There was an explosion, many of his assistants died and Banner was in a coma for 3 months. When he woke up the normally calm and timid Banner started struggling with fits of Rage. Not long after, when AIM agents tried to abduct him, the world discover just what a monster he had become. As the Hulk, in terms of raw physical strength, he is the strongest being on Earth. He is an important addition to the team when he can keep his rage under control but Fury remains unconvinced he can do that and also worries about his lack of military background.

    War Machine - Jim Rhodes
Another one of those military types that Fury loves so much but not much is know about Rhodes. Currently pilots a MK. II Iron Man suit designed by Tony Stark. The suit provides armour, stealth features, long range munitions and a host of sensory devices and scanners making him a versatile and important member of the team.

    Spider - Mary Jane Watson
Mary Jane never aspired to be a hero. She wanted to be a super model and live a glamorous lifestyle. Fate had other plans, and upon a visit to Peter Parker's (boyfriend) lab her life would be changed forever. Bitten by a genetically engineered, gamma radiated spider, MJ's life would never be the same. She soon started to exhibit spider like powers, and upon advice given by Pete's Uncle Ben on his deathbed, decided to use them for good. On the team completely by accident. Ended up helping the team on their first official outing and at the request of Banner, and more importantly Bradley, Fury gave her a spot on the team. He doesn't like it though, doesn't want a kid in the field and she is under close scrutiny.

Here we see a switch around with the team being called the Doom 4 with Dr. Doom as the leader of the team while everyone else has the same powers as in canon Mr. Fantastic is their archenemy. In this universe Reed Richards actually did set the accident on purpose which gave them all their powers. Not to mention in this universe he also purposely tinkered with Dr.Doom's machine in hopes it would kill him of course it didn't but it left him heavily scarred. After acquiring his powers he became Mr. Fantastic and decided to pursue a villain where he wants to take over the world and rule it with his scientific genius. In fact its the reason why he wanted to do the experiment in the first place so that he could see what the results where and hates anyone who rivals his genius.

Dr. Doom and Sue Storm/Invisible Woman are married with two children named Franklin and Valerie Von Doom. In this universe as well he is the ruler of Lavertia which often times serves as another place where the Doom 4 can stay in.

The year is 2014, and it has been 53 years since the Fantastic Four made their fateful trip, marking the dawn of the Age of Marvels. All the characters are 50 years older, and their careers are over and a second and now third generation of heroes has risen.

Basically treat the Marvel U as if time flowed normally for the characters.

Just ideas I had for 3 areas of the Marvel Universe in my own alternate reality...

Captain America: Isaiah Bradley became the first man to wield the shield, and he led the allies victoriously through World War II. Following the war, he returned home and, due to his popularity, campaigned and attained civil rights decades before Martin Luther King Jr. could have his dream. He was never frozen, and the Super Soldier serum doesn't slow his aging, so eventually he earned a peaceful retirement from superheroics. In the present day, his grandson Eli Bradley has taken up the shield and leads the Avengers as Patriot.

Steven Rogers served in World War II as well, joining the Howling Commandos and fighting alongside his hero, Captain America. Like Fury, Rogers is injected with the Infinity Formula and ages slowly. Rather than continuing life as a soldier after the debacle that was the Iraq War, Rogers decides that the best thing he can do for America is to lead it. In present day, Steven Rogers becomes President of the United States and his first act is to establish S.H.I.E.L.D., a global peacekeeping organization. He appoints his old friend Nick Fury to be S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Director. President Rogers has a pro-mutant stance, but this puts him at odds with House Speaker Graydon Creed and Senate Minority Leader Robert Kelly. Naturally, this makes for a shambolic Congress.

X-men: Erik Lehnsherr and Charles Xavier are two mutant philosophers who met in their early years and became lovers. However, Erik being a survivor of the Holocaust, his hostile feelings towards humanity created a schism between them that grew steadily until Erik murdered Dr. Howard Stark upon discovering that the inventor had created machines that could identify and track mutants. This fallout caused Xavier and Erik, now calling himself Magneto, to go their separate ways. Xavier joins the Hellfire Club, an elite society that works for the benefit of mutantkind, and with their funds founded a private school in New York where he could teach mutant children to control their powers and become superheroes. One of his first pupils, Jean Grey, suffered from multiple personality disorder. Over time, it became clear that her mutation offered her limitless--near omnipotent--power, and one of her personalities, The Phoenix, began to abuse that power. To protect the world and mutantkind from the Phoenix and negative human backlash as a result of the Phoenix's actions, Xavier has Jean Grey and her entire bloodline exterminated. Emma Frost, a member of the Hellfire Club, discovers Xavier's unholy act and reveals the truth to Cyclops. Most of the X-men abandon Xavier and join Magneto, having come to believe that the latter has their best interests at heart.

Spider-Man: Peter Parker was a brilliant nerd who was mutated by a radioactive spider and became a superhero. He made it his mission to expose and take down Oscorp, a company that has spent years experimenting with human physiology in the name of "enhancing human life." His nemesis was Norman Osborn, founder of Oscorp and in secret the terrorist known as the Green Goblin. One day, both Norman Osborn and Peter Parker disappear. Spider-Man disappears from NYC. Nobody knows what happened to them. Times passes...they are all presumed dead.

Enter Kaine. Kaine awakens in an abandoned laboratory, and when he makes his way into NYC, he is mistaken as Peter Parker. He has no idea who Parker is, only that he alarmingly looks just like him. Is he Peter Parker? How can he be Peter Parker if he knows his name is Kaine? Why does he even know that his name's supposed to be Kaine? As Kaine encounters Mary Jane Watson, Aunt May Parker, J. Jonah Jameson and all the rest, he grows more and more frustrated and becomes determined to solve the mystery of his existence and his ties to Peter Parker. Upon discovering that he seems to have Spider-Man's powers, Kaine is unable to resist the urge to become a costumed vigilante--the Scarlet Spider! Meanwhile, Harry Osborn gains control of Oscorp and begins a quest to unravel the fate of his father and of his best friend, Peter Parker, a quest that puts Kaine in his cross hairs.

    Earth- 1963

The twins, Pietro and Wanda, were found by Professor Xavier and allowed them to become apart of the first X-Men. Magneto recruits Jean Grey and Cyclops into his Brotherhood of Mutants. Cyclops comes to look to Magneto as a father figure while Jean Grey under his guidance learns to control his powers. With Pietro and Wanda in this universe being apart of the X-Men they remain prominent members of the group. Cyclops and Jean Grey remain some of Magento's close followers and try their best to see that his goals are met. Likewise the relationship between Pietro and Professor Xavier started out rocky but he later came to see him as a father figure even when it was found out that Magento was his real father. Which also goes for Wanda as well who saw Xavier as more of a father than her real father. Not to mention Xavier helped her control and understand her powers. For a while Pietro took time off from being part of the X-Men but Wanda later joined the second incarnation where she met Nightcrawler for the first time and fell in love. Although Pietro when he got back with the X-Men was overprotective of his little sister he still as time went on grew to like Nightcrawler and eventually approved of him and his sister's relationship.

On the other side Magneto managed to recruit Havok, Alex Summers, into the Brotherhood after they found him. Not to mention also finding his long lost illegitimate daughter Lorna who joined the group as well and became Havok's girlfriend.
