And they are still doing it today with Apocalypse War and Civil War 2.
X2 also started the trend of Marvel based films combining elements of the 616 and Ultimate. It combined elements of God Loves, Man Kills, and the second arc of Ultimate X-Men. Then all the other Marvel movies copied that formula.
