No, they do not show that they show Sam Jackson pointing a gun at his head looking away and then cut to the sound of a gun going off. No one checks the body to determine his death, we don't even see his dead body up close.
It is quite easy to imagine he may have grazed him or shot him in the chest. It is possible to survive a gun shot wound to the brain also if it is a clean shot.
