I wouldn't take the Shade mini as canon. Maybe as the last story of the pre Flashpoint universe.

But I think Robinson has said that it was released during the New 52, it did affect some things he could and could not do when it came to the non-duplication ideas for Earth 2, so it might be "sort-of canon but not referred to much".

I live Star Girl, she's awesome. I really liked her relationship with Billy Batson in the old continuity and thought that it ended too soon. I hope that Lemire gives her lots of good stuff to do in JLU.

Ah yes, the bright fun character Geoff Johns based on his sister...who now has a dead baby brother in her origin because Johns has apparently become George Lucas and can't leave his good stuff alone, and can seemingly no longer concieve of a non-depressing, non-cliched super hero origin.
