Default Changes made by Julius Schwartz and the Batman TV series

I read that Julius Schwartz took over the Batman comics in 1964, and made some changes to make it less "silly" and changed the look of the suit/batmobile/etc. But then the TV series came out in 1966 and I heard the show's popularity reflected in the comics and brought back the campy/silly aspects.

Did the Batman tv show do away with the changes that Schwartz wanted in the early 60s? When was the Batman comics brought into the more serious tone? When O'Neill came onboard?

New Look Batman came in 1,964 and the TV Series raised his popularity but obviously the campiness was a little to much so by the early 70's Robin went to college and officially was declared 18 y/o and Batman moved into the city to become the Dark Knight Detective.

The 'New Look' didn't do away with 'campiness' as such...it simply removed the outlandish sci-fi elements and refocused the comics on Batman's detective work and crime-fighting. The stories that followed were still light-hearted and even a bit campy (albeit not as much as the TV show).

It was in 1969, with O'Neil's (I assume) story about Dick going to college and Bruce relocating to Gotham proper and deciding to reposition Batman as a dreaded avenger of the night that the change REALLY began.
