But keep thinking they're super-edgy and stuff, if that makes you happy. Whedon has done almost nothing that isn't at home on broadcast television, because, well, he's worked quite a bit in broadcast television and appropriate-for-tweens-and-up entertainment. Miike managed to have his episode of a Showtime horror showcase pulled from showing because it was too messed up for them to comfortably show late at night on Showtime. (Yet, he's also done family and child-friendly movies, which are very good.) That's a different level.
