I think so.
She was in Laura's head, but was already dead. For what i got, that's how Esme planted the idea on the 3 in 1 to bring them back. She was dead, but was still able to communicate.
I'm glad they're not with the x-men anymore. They didn't fit with them. They're much more the gray side of life.
Hopefully we'll get a one shot with them.
Perhaps it's just me, and a bit simplistic, but I always saw Esme as representative of the worst parts of the Cuckoos, and Sophie as representative of the best they are capable of being.
Which makes me wonder if they stay dead for narrative reasons - the deaths of both of them represent the ability of the remaining 3 to forge thier own path.
Has anyone seen Netflix's Sabrina? There are three girls who speak just like the Cuckoos. Also, they talk on the show a little about Grant Morrison, so I'm assuming the director was inspired by them to make these characters. They're really fun, maybe a little more than on Gifted.
Here's the girls and Sabrina (in red)

Do they really mention Morrison?
Cause lol at the notion Grant created the triple witches trope. See Gray Sisters, Gorgons, Furies, Fates, Norns, Weird Sisters, Wayward Sisters, Macbeth, Disney’s Gargoyles... Ad infinitum.

With them running off, anyone think they may link up with Emma and her newly renovated HFC?
