Oh, yeah! Forgot about that one.

But yeah, it's still been a long time.

That cover by Frison for #7 is just beautiful! That is some art for sure!

Cho will not be missed...his body proportions were unattractive anyway, those "thunder-thighs"

I'm not loving how reminiscent the pose is to Cho's #5. Whatever your feelings about the commissions he does, he's a tough act to follow. Also, the depth of field looks kind of off to me, almost like she's standing against an old studio backdrop. Still quite pretty, though.

I wonder if the ocean's a clue that she'll be back on Themyscira.

I wanted to wait for a few examples before critiquing Jenny Frison's variant covers. The work is sumptuous and sensual, just gorgeous. I love the painterly quality of the coloring style used as well as the lack of pandering to the "male gaze". That said, overall I find the depictions of Diana to be very passive.
Despite my being of the opinion that she has become more "Warrior Woman" than "Wonder Woman" in recent characterizations, there is a languid quality here -the heavily lidded eyes of the first image - sleepily diverting her gaze from engaging the view with lips slightly parted as if in *sigh*, the overall lack of musculature (with light exceptions, most notably the pronounced shoulders in the first image) and willowy quality to her limbs, even her passively posed stance. These elements combine to give off a feeling of lack of agency by our Amazonian protagonist.

I hope that future covers from Frison show a more active and engaged Diana.

Frison is a far superior cover artist than Cho, he isn't dynamic
I disagree. Cho's art on Shanna was dynamic IMO.
If ten years of recording The Young and the Restless for my mother have taught me anything, it's that characters in serial dramas are always happily in love...until they're not

Eh, this is just like chocolate or vanilla ice cream. In the end who cares, its ice cream. Still think Cho got a raw deal but the replacement is just as good.

I like much of what Frisson has done so far, but I'm hoping that, as she gets a handle on her subject, she starts to vary the feel of the colors as well as the color palette.

I wasn't a fan of the shrinking costume in AHs covers, but he experimented all the time with form, color, and dimension. Jones did too. In most of Bolland's covers, there was a story.

I realize that one difference is that these are variant covers, so they don't necessarily connect to the content of the comic. I'm just hoping that Frisson eventually plays around more and focuses less on moody posing.
