while technically very good and even pretty, I tend to find her covers to be somewhat boring. I wish she put in backgrounds or something other than just Diana....standing there.

Why aren't you liking it? Is it because it makes the original costume look more like a swimsuit? In this time frought with immigration issues I love that she's advertising Mexico as a tourist destination. I see it as a subtle political statement, masked as a travel pin-up. It's also bright, colorful and joyful and has a background. That sets it apart from Frisson's other amazing yet serious Wonder Woman work.
