Green Lantern Vol. 1: Sinestro Prep

I just want my information here to reference in the future lol

Going to start reading New 52 Green Lantern. Bunch of people had said a lot of Johns Pre-New 52 stuff was important to understand it so I'm wondering what are some good collected trades for those storylines and which stories d you suggest reading before starting Green Lantern? I've seen good single book collections for Rebirth and Sinestro Corps War, but not so much with Blackest Night. Give me some suggestions of what you've seen or read that would help with understanding New 52 GL.



I think what I might do is buy the new 52 ones and hold off on reading it until the last Lantern related volume 4 comes out, which is New Guardians Vol. 3 on July 2nd (I have to buy 15 trade volumes between now and then so I've got some time to work on it) and then read them then. In the meantime of all that try to get the bare minimum of pre-New 52 stuff I can get a hold of on Amazon or something. I'm really thinking of just getting Secret Origin, the Sinestro Corps War, Blackest Night, and War of the Green Lanterns since those most interest me and then just filling in the blanks later.

The Return of Superman - Contains the issue where Cyborg Superman destroys Coast City.
Zero Hour - Parallax Hal tries to do something with time (forgot the story it's been years and years since I've read it)
Final Night - The story in which Hal dies reigniting Earth's sun.
Day of Judgement - Hal turns into the Spectre

Of course this is a huge list and undertaking I might just say screw it and start with the New 52 stuff so I don't get behind on my already long list of trades I want to buy.

If you dont plan on getting this stuff really cheap i would suggest getting them in single issues in ebay then reselling after youre done.

Idk I go in there a lot and they're expecting a huge turnout as well as prepping the store, but they didn't say anything to me about having a sale. I've been eyeing their deluxe Darkseid though lol. Perhaps they will they did say they'll sell a lot of figures so maybe there will be a sale. Shouldn't have spent $25 on that Martian Manhunter I've wanted for a while XD

I was going to find the old thread, but the reboot did away with it, just to say I finally found this for a reasonable price on Amazon! The last hole in my Green Lantern collection is finally complete!

ah what did you find it for? I think you was the one jealous my LCS happened to have a nice shiny copy for cover price. THey have a couple of the ones after Sinestro Corps, but I don't remember specifically plus I don't believe those are overly expensive anyways.

Yeah, it's only Dark Side of Green that's out-of-print and hard to find, I believe, that's why it was the last hole in my collection. Everything else was really easy to find. I got it for about £18 in the end, which is still more than any of the other books in my collection, but it's the cheapest I've seen it in almost a year.

I really want to get Wanted so I can move on to Sinestro Corps. I'm an impulse buyer and was moving into the 6 inch action figure collectibles, but I think I'm going to stop that and move into just Hot Toy collecting, which is expensive, but they come out at a slow rate and they don't make a whole lot of them anyways especially if you cut out things you don't want or duplicates.

Oh yeah the point of that was I bought like 8 $25 action figures in a few weeks in which I could have had all these trades by now lol.
