When and What She Did at Timely/Atlas/Marvel: Production artist and colorist from 1959 through the 1970s. In the 1980s, she worked for Marvel’s licensing department.
Marvel-ous Accomplishments: In her roles as a staff production artist, colorist and licensing Severin is one of those artists whose work you’ve probably seen but didn’t realize it was hers.
Like, say, the comic illustrated on Marvel Comics toilet paper from the 1970s.
She also, provided the interior art for a slew of Marvel titles, including becoming Dr. Strange’s regular artist in Strange Tales in 1966, following Steve Ditko and Bill Everett.
However, Severin’s biggest contribution might be creating the original look for Marvel’s first Spider-Woman in 1976 (even though she didn’t illustrate the character’s first appearance in Marvel Spotlight).
