this story does have the potential to transform Steve into the next Tony Stark or Cyclops because once you start down the path it may prove difficult to redeem the character unless kobik is going to rewrite the reality to undo all this because there doesn't seem any other viable avenue for Steve to regain his right mind and redeem him at the same time

Did that storyline please everyone? No. Does any storyline have to? No, not at all.

As for Hydra-Cap, it think it's safe to say that Spencer has a far better story to tell than the version of it that you've created in your head.
What created in my head, it's there on page. This is what was done to Steve - Original Recipe Steve is gone, no long exists, New Coke Steve is Hydra. Spencer doesn't care about Steve Rogers character anyway. That's why he can rarely ever find anything to actually say about him and talks more about everyone else and how this story is going to affect everything else. He wanted to get rid of the so called "most trusted character" because of what it meant for other characters, not because he wanted to do any kind of development with Steve. Pretty sure the only reason he's even writing is because it's a means to end for the other stories he wants to tell and if he has to destroy Steve Rogers to do it, so be it.

Not to mention the Superior Spider Man story is totally different. That was Doc Oc in Peter's body and Peter's consciousness, Peter as Peter, was still there trying to influence him. Original Steve doesn't exist, he was re-created from the ground up by Kobik. If you actually like those characters and are interested in THEIR stories then both books do next to nothing for those characters.

I think Spencer not only cares just as much about Steve Rogers as you or any other fan does, I'm very sure that he knows as much about him as any fan as his work in both Steve Rogers: Captain America and Sam Wilson: Captain America shows a deep dish knowledge of Cap lore and a boundless, unironic affection for even the goofiest aspects of Cap's past.

Your assumptions about what this story is and where Spencer will be able to take it are just that - assumptions. Based on the story so far, I'd say that Spencer has a great deal to say about Steve and who he is and, as it goes on, this story will do anything but destroy Steve Rogers.

Feel free to sit this one out if it's not your cup of tea - not every story is for everyone - but when as is said and done, Steve Rogers will be fine.
