When was the first time characters used certain things?

I have a really specific question but decided the topic itself could be more general, lol. I was wondering when the first time Mister Hyde used/carried a cane was. The literary Hyde used a cane as a weapon, but Marvel's Hyde hasn't until fairly recently--I THINK, anyway. (The earliest I can recall him using one is in the Thor: The Mighty Avenger AU, where he used it as a weapon and to store his Hyde formula, but he's used one in Avengers Alliance 2 and Marvel Heroes. Was it something the Agents of SHIELD show introduced?)
