    Default Who Makes Up Your Magnificent Seven?

    With the movie coming out later this month, I thought it would be cool to hear your seven favorite comic or cartoon characters. Here's the deal: Every established comic book publisher, studio and indie has decided to put out a one shot graphic novel for charity. As one of the top creators, they've chosen you to script this epic event. With free rein to use any comic or cartoon character that has ever existed -- heroes, villains, abstracts, supporting characters, whatever -- who do you choose as your Magnificent 7?

    I'm okay if Steve McQueen, Yul Brynner, and Robert Vaughn are there. The rest I'm not fussy about.

    But seriously...

    The list of course varies over time and according to my mood...

    * Buffy Summers
    * Batman
    * Joe Asakura (Gatchaman/Battle Of The Planets)
    * Jenny Sparks
    * Tommy Monaghan
    * Wonder Woman
    * Quinlan Vos (John Ostrander's Star Wars comics)

    Of course, you can't tell an epic story with just seven characters, so their some of supporting cast and villains will show up as well.

    Wonder Woman – Leader – military-ish leader, knows how to control the team, how to fight, some magic
    Bugs Bunny – second in command, plenty of brain power, sure knows how to fight, unpredictability
    Dexter – gadgetery, technology, someone who can build anything.
    Moon Knight – money, fight, mystical knowledge.
    Flash Wally West Original – speedster, keeps the group morale.
    Apollo – muscle
    Midnighter – Strategy.

    If this crossover can happen in the bootleg universe, it can happen here...

    DC Hero - Batman
    Marvel Hero - Spider-Man
    Super Sentai - Mystic Ranger(Phoenix)
    Pulp Hero - Zorro
    Comic-strip Hero - The Phantom

    As much as I dislike cross overs with classic era characters this list is cool and could be broken down in several ways.Leah Moore and John Reppion on the Tarzan/Sherlock Holmes book.Did Dynamite do a Zorro/Lone Ranger recently? Of course Jeff Parker on the Bond/Buck Rogers book just for the sheer ridiculousness of it.I don't know what to do with Hercules so I say give it to Gaiman. Not sure what he'd do with it but a better choice might be Corben.Or both working together.

    Yeah. Further they did MASKS which was pretty much their magnificent 7 of the Pulps.
    Which was great!

    Although they went a bit overboard throwing in to many characters.

    Would have stuck with 7

    The Shadow
    Zorro (Should have used the (James (Santiago) Vega) Zorro who actually existed in that pulp era)
    The Spider
    Black Bat
    Green Hornet & Kato
    Miss Fury

    If we're just using comic book characters for this thought-exercise, then my Magnificent Seven idea would be to pick one representative each from a different North American comic book publisher:

    1) Superman (DC)

    2) Spider-Man (Marvel)

    3) Spawn (Image)

    4) Hellboy (Dark Horse)

    5) X-O Manowar (Valiant)

    6) Judge Dredd (IDW/Rebellion/2000AD)

    7) Cerebus (Aardvark-Vanaheim)
