Rebirth is about taking DC's most popular characters and giving fans more of those characters, and bringing those characters back to their basics.
So your question might be better phrased as "why have these characters been traditionally more popular than those characters?"

Because DC wants to make money. The characters they are publishing are their historical money makers and they are taking very little risk in a very tight market right now. Its a very smart business move on their part. Publish what sells don't publish what doesn't. I commend them.

Rebirth is about building a buffer... so that they can experiment again.

So do I love Wonder Woman the Titans .Batman but im kinda burnt out on Justice League .Aquaman.Superman and most Batman and Green Lantern books and would LOVE to see the return of The Legion.The Justice Society The Outsiders.Vixen.Black Lightning.Geo Force just to name a few.

magic characters are maybe not too popular except if they are like harry potter.
