NHL 2015 - It Starts Now

Not the NHL, but I finished watching the Canada vs. Slovakia game for the World Junior Championship and man, the Slovakian goalie (Denis Godla) put on an absolutely unbelievable performance. Slovakia lost in the end, but Godla played their hearts out.

Once again, not the NHL but...

I don't think I'll ever see a hockey game as epic as the Canada vs. Russia World Junior Gold Medal game. Canada jumps out to a quick 2-0 lead. Russia scores pretty quickly after that. Canada carries the 2-1 lead into the second period, where after a few minutes, they score 3 in pretty quick succession to lead 5-1. Game over, right?

Wrong! Russian juniors fought hard and battled back to make it 5-4 by the end of the second. Absolutely crazy and must have rattled the Canadian juniors, because they were having trouble clearing the zone, making a clean pass and getting scoring chances. Thankfully, the period was over before Russia could complete the comeback.

Third period, Canada played their best, a shut-down game where they limited Russia to very few chances and mustered a few of their own. The last few seconds were tense, but in the end, Canada won a thrilling game 5 to 4.

Well, slap me silly and call me Billy! The Flyers FINALLY won in a shootout, beating Ottawa 2-1 last night! WHOO!!
