Saw a video of Trevor Noah responding to Scarlett Johansson's "I can play anyone I want" in movies, and he basically said that all people are talking about in regards to representation is about "seeing myself on screen as a non-stereotypical human being" and "shaping society."



I find it interesting, because Trevor says we take for granted about the power of imagery, but I think we take for bigger granted the power of communication in this age of the internet. How we can voice our concerns in a way that genuinely helps communities grow closer together. I think all I'm trying to say is that if representation can help lead towards better communication and collaboration, whether it be equal opportunity for all at Hollywood or elsewhere, then great, but I truly think that consistent communication, collaboration, as well as kindness, prevails all. I really don't think you should just wait for a certain black/Jewish/Chinese/gay/trans/etc. movie shot out by some Hollywood executives to come out in order to help shape society better, and attempting to talk to more and more people in positions of power will surely go a longer way than just complaining about movies on the internet all day. Just saying.
