Default Overrating of Wonder Woman's h2h fighting skill

I'm not talking about weapons, I'm talking about pure h2h skill. I'm not a Wonder Woman hater. I'm a big fan of her and I've been reading her comics at least since the New 52 started but I have read post crisis and even some Golden Age WW. And I'm really really surprised at how people and writers tend to overstate her fighting ability? Diana's not even top 10 or even top 20 as far as DC martial artists go. Her feats are good as far as powerhouses go, but a lot of what she does, like taking down fodder is what a lot of street levelers do all the time in their appearances.

Yet I've still heard people say, "herp derp she can beat Ra's Al Ghul, Batman, Captain America, Shiva, Black Widow and Black Canary and the like in h2h because she has thousands of years of experience herp derp"

Yet these are some of greatest feats using skill:

There's more feats but literally it was all fodder, unnamed grunts or monsters or stuff that like that and or people who literally have shown no skill that puts them in Batman's league.

Those are some of her best h2h fights using more skill then punching till someone bleeds and gives up and these are things that Batman, Canary, literally every street leveler with decent training done on a daily basis. She has not actually consistently evenly faced and beaten someone credible with feats that put them in Batman's league let alone people like Canary and even Catwoman

Here is how I regularly see her drawn fighting, maybe a la one or two judo flips here, a kick or grappling hold or take down/wrestling move here and there, but most of the time, this is it:
    http://static1.comicvine.com/uploads...8665-40072.jpg

And like I said, maybe sometimes a kick here or there is what I've seen her consistently doing considering how she doesn't actually need skill to fight most of the time:

So as much as I love her, I don't know why, for the life of me some people think these feats equals Batman/Shiva/Cap even Black Widow, Canary, Catwoman, etc level when they've all taken down fodder like she has and actually faced and at times beaten or at least put up a fight against some credible martial artists/fighters. They even all know how to kick, block, punch, use take down moves and all that etc like her and then some.

So.. I'm confused as to when the hell people started putting Diana's skills on a pedestal and acting like she is either in Bruce's league or above when she hasn't shown anything aside from beating fodder and maybe throwing a kick here or there in her comics?

There's one thing I may concede though, when it comes to sword fighting I will no doubt say Diana more often then not.

Think you misunderstand what DC actually means by the notion of her being the greatest h2h fighter on the JL member list.

Diana is simply the best compromise between superpower and skill. She may not be as skilled as Batman, or as strong as Superman... but she closer to both than both, making her greater than either.

Nah, Diana is the best fighter in the DCU period. She is better than Batman, and as strong (if not, ALMOST, as strong) as Superman. There IS no compromise where that is concerned. DC has stated this and exhibited this in numerous stories; even in comparison to Big Barda back in the 90s, she was portrayed as being a better fighter than Barda. Granny Goodness herself was in awe of her skills and wanted her to join the female furies. Maybe the OP needs to do his/her research; I just came home from work and I don't feel like going through a bunch of scans on the internet to show this guy/girl.

IMHO, it definitely makes her their equal because (bar none) she is probably the most skilled superhuman fighter in the DCU. I also think she's in the top 15 fighters, powers or not. And while I haven't gone out of my way to make a list of top fighters DCU fighters in awhile, the last time I did, Batman barely squeaked into the top 10.

Ugh. I don't have time for this, so I'll just say to the OP, you're incorrect. Wonder Woman is the best fighter in the DCU, and she is as strong as Superman, so there's no match. Anything else is bad writing.

I kind of see what Trojan is saying, as far as actual writing and portrayals are shown...but as far logic is concerned, WW has been alive longer than most of the fighters in the DCU and has the collective experience of her sister's experiences as well..

however, how do you think she fairs well in animation fights compared to what you've seen in Batman, Black Canary and Huntress? I think her fight scenes are way more awesome...

Obviously, it all comes down to the writer. But, on the established "facts" (such as they are about any fictional character), Wonder Woman should be the best combatant amongst the Justice League, if not the entire DC Universe.

As others have noted, Diana has the same or equivalent skills and training in combat as Batman, but Batman doesn't have her super-abilities. Diana has the same or equivalent super-abilities as Superman, but Superman doesn't have her combative skills and training. Diana combines the best of both Batman and Superman into a single warrior.

On top of that, unlike Batman and Superman, she is not bound by a personal "no killing" code. Diana is not a blood thirsty murderer, but she's rational enough to realise that in certain circumstances lethal force is necessary and she will kill to save others if she has absolutely no other choice. I think that also adds to her ability to be an effective fighter since she won't necessarily pull her punches like others.

It happened when writers stopped treating her like the chick who is there to make coffee and take minutes in the meeting and suddenly remembered who she really is.
