Default Marvel's new Spider-Man animated series

It was announced today at New York Comic Con that the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon will be coming to an end, to be replaced by a new series coming out next year.

The new series will focus on Peter Parker learning how to come into his own superpowers while facing the pressures of being a normal teen. Headed up by Kevin Shinick (Robot Chicken) and supervising director Philip Pignotti (Marvel's Avengers Assemble), Marvel's Spider-Man will have a back to basics approach.
It sounds like it could be good, and a necessary corrective after Ultimate. Shinick wrote a Deadpool two-parter for Avenging Spider-Man.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

It'll be nice to be able to watch a Spider-Man cartoon that actually feels like a Spider-Man cartoon again, what with going back to focusing on Spidey's double-identiy, personal drama, and Peter dealing with normal problems outside his Superhero life, though I hope the writing and animation are good as well .

And he also wrote Superior Carnage, which included an appearance from the Superior Spider-Man.

So another spider-Man cartoon where he is still in high school and early in his career as Spidey. Pass.

This. Though, I'm wary of anything Spider-Man-related that has Quesada attached in any capacity. He does not get the character at all.

Basically, they need to find a way to re-create Spectacular. That was damn near the perfect Spider-Man cartoon.

In any case, good riddance to Ultimate Deadpoo...er..."Spider-Man."

AGREED. Good lord, I was weary for the Spidey show after spectacular, but I couldn't ever foresee being THAT disappointed. Ugh....the memory of the first manic chibi, imaginespot..... it still hurts.

Spectacular Spider-Man had a tone that, IMHO, fits the character extremely well. Sure, it was teenage Peter, but I certainly enjoyed it and got a little suckered into seeing one episode after another. I definitely think it's the best animated Spider-Man of the 21st century.

Seconded, I'm done with school age Peter in both comic and cartoon form.

The moment Homecoming was announced I knew something like this was going to happen.

I liked Spectacular Spider-Man myself. It felt more my tune than the 1994 Spider-Man: TAS.

It seems the show will borrow from Slott's run.

Slott noted the following on twitter.

2 of the bits that were revealed on today's panel:
Fred Tatasciore will be the voice of Max Modell.
And Peter Parker will go to Horizon High
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets
