it technically didn't count off sreen deaths like the Deathstar #3 kililng multiple planets

It has to, otherwise it's numbers don't make any sense. You also see that planet blow up on screen, you don't see the people dying, but than I didn't see 80,000 Nova Corps pilots go down on screen either.

NCIS: Los Angeles has the leads shooting multiple bad guys dead in virtually every episode.

This pace has been continuing for what, six seasons now? Plus, the bad guys usually kill a few people as well.

Not counting abstract mass casualty events like cities, planets, even universes getting blown away, or zombie hordes on The Walking Dead, I think this is a serious contender.

So real quick is this counting nameless faceless deaths or named important (to quasi-important) characters only?

I thought "Hard Boiled" by John Woo had the highest body count for quite awhile. but, as it turns out, it has been supplanted by other films. films like "300" and "Troy" have passed it by.

the LOTR extended films are the current top-ranking films for onscreen kills (something like 1400 for all three films together).

as for TV shows.... Lone Wolf and Cub is gonna be hard for most shows to beat.
