It's almost like an indie book, right? I really think Manapul took some inspiration from working on Landis' American Alien book. This book takes it's time but is also satisfying issue to issue like AA was.

This was wonderful, and I too loved the character work. Between this and the Superman title, I feel like we're getting much more intimate, character-driven storytelling since Rebirth. And my interest in the Super titles has never been higher.

So, I finally got to read it. The thing that sticks out for me is the ship. It doesn't look like anything we've seen before. Not even in Rebirth. It looks just like the one from MOS. Which suggests that WB corporate might have more control over the books than we realize. One theory is that this isn't even a real memory at all and is just a creation of the White Mercy. Batman at least hints at this possibility. We saw this in the years before SO in 2009. Various "flashbacks" contradicting the official origin. Including what Jor-El and Lara look like. We may get more info. in the next issue when they do Batman. It would be interesting if they try to shoehorn elements from Year One back into his history too.
