I get how the SM/WW shippers would hate the line about how Diana questions the relationship with Supes as well.
Needless to say I liked it.
The tribute to all the previous creative teams on the mall signs was a great touch as well
If ten years of recording The Young and the Restless for my mother have taught me anything, it's that characters in serial dramas are always happily in love...until they're not
“The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views...which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.” - the 4th Doctor
This chapter and the last might be where the present time stories start to pull ahead of the origin tales. Sharp's art sometimes makes the characters look a little odd but he's the stronger artist between him and Scott's replacement. The pacing has quickened as well with more bits of intrigue building surrounding where things are headed for Diana. I'd give this a 8.5/10 hoping that builds upwards as this new arc goes on.

I can't say that I'm a 'shipper,' but I did enjoy the idea of the two of them together.
That being said, I'm also fine with her moving on. My only problem is the way it's being written as if it weren't that important or 'true.' I would much rather see Diana mourn Clark's passing and move on in a more natural fashion? This way we can have our cake and eat it to - Clark/Diana fans had a couple of years of a real and meaningful relationship that ended when Clark died, and now she can find new (or rekindle old?) love with Steve.
I'm just not comfortable with the downplay of the Clark/Diana relationship as not being 'real' or important. It should have, in my opinion, been a key chapter in her life, but then she moves on. The lack of any real mourning (I think there was one panel in JL where she was looking upset and Aquaman had a hand on her shoulder) sort of downplays the whole relationship which doesn't feel right, both from a story perspective as well as to being fair to Diana/Clark shippers.
That's what a reboot is for. New origins, changes.
Rebirth was supposed to not be a reboot. And yet, here, it is Rucka and DC saying : "What you people who liked New 52 Wonder Woman was a lie. Sucks to be you. And not only is it a lie in the main Wonder Woman books, but clearly, SM/WW was somewhat of a lie too. Here, have her with Steve Trevor, aka Macho Man, standard bearer of the Patriarchy".
Comparing the New 52 treatment of the characters with the Rebirth one totally forget it. After all, all the things about the old Wonder Woman line are returned in the most insulting way to the teams working in the previous five years. And I must add that the message behind by this behaviour is extremely toxic in my eyes, which is why I despise this issue of WW and the latest Action Comics equally.
The name of the story is "Lies." Not sure we can rely on much of what we are seeing happen between the characters being the new status quo just yet.
Every day is a gift, not a given right.
It doesnt matter if it was a reboot. It was still needlessly throwing shade at elements that fans of the older vetsions viewed as important. The clay birth was now considered an insult to men and their semen instead of just being a celebration of feminity and queerness (Diana used to have three mothers, now she is the latest offspring of Zeus the uber pimp). There is a big difference between the Amazons being imperfect and making them murder defenseless men. None of Rucka's responses are unprovoked. A response has been building since those issues came out.
Steve is not the uber patriarch you're painting him as. He wouldnt have pointed out Cadullo's BS if he was, he would have agreed with him. Pairing her up with Superman, or the idea that Superman needs an invincible mate who can take his stamina, has always been a bigger patriarchal idea.
