Has Bryan Singer finished eating his Humble Pie after X-Men Apocalypse?

The 3rd one is always the worst. oh the irony since X3 is a better film than Apocalypse.here is how I see it, Bryan Singer got cocky after the sucess of DOFP.

He made X1, a film that started the superhero craze of the 2000s and above all, the film was one of the very first few comic films that made people take comic films seriously and look at comic films as something that could be intelltetucal and address real world issues like racism, prejudice and inevitable war.

He made the great X2, a classic comic film till this day and the best marvel film for me .sorry disney.I grow tired of childish movies.

He left for X3 and we got Brett Ratner who left us hot and cold despite the potential

Singer came back for First Class as a writer and producer and the series returned to top form. He got a lot of the praise for that.

He made DOFP, another X2 of the prequels and a film that showed how much X-Men is better off with the childish MCU movies like Avengers and Iron Man 3. DOFP is not just a good comic film but a good dramatic film with good story telling. Only the Nolan movies have gone there. the same nolan movies that nolan admitted were inspired by the singer x-men movies.

And then came Apocalypse. Singer felt he could no wrong after having 4 successful x-men movies under his belt. he got cocky and arrogant, he felt he could do anything and get away with it because of his track record and the film turned out to be a disaster. the 3rd one is the worst according to jean and cyclops and it turned out ,singer's 3rd film is worse then brett's X3 who he was dissing all along.

Singer is the perfect example of a talented guy who felt invisible with his craft after years of constant sucess, I hope he has been humbled enough with the outcome of apocalypse.

If he ever gets a chance to direct another x-men film even though I am ready for a new guy, there is a 90% chance he would return to top form again. maybe sometimes it is good for many talented people who got too arrogant as artists to fall , humble themselves and learn again and then, rise again.

I chose to poll this topic to see how fans feel about Singer and if has been humbled by the failure of Apocalypse after strings of successful X-Men movies and the guy who most people trusted for a solid x-men film.

Seriously? Apocalypse is surely not that great, but it's far from being worst than X3.

I like Singer fine. He's made some fine X-men films in X1, X2 and DoFP; and, as you said, produced First Class which was a very solid film. He may've had a producer title on The Wolverine too, which I liked a lot despite its kind of silly third act. And I even liked Apocalypse for what it was, a love letter to the 90s X-men; though it may've thrown too much out there and left a lot of things half baked, and in the case of Apocalypse didn't go far enough in his alieness or do him justice in terms of being an imposing presence. At least IMO. He tried to make him too relatable and human, and I think he should've just gone all out and made him a mad force of nature type character. His motivations are what they are. They're not deep, or stemming from some understandable place rooted in the human experience. He believes he's serving the will of the cosmos by culling the weak and propelling evolution forward. He's nuts. Run with it and have a ball I say. They could've even gotten into the origins of mutant life on the planet and paid some lip service to the Celestials, who seeded all life actually and left the potential there for evolutionary leaps forward.

Having said all that, he's been involved in the franchise for a long time. It may be time for someone else to get a shot. My hope is that he takes a step back and, if he remains involved with the franchise (which is likely), he does so as a producer with a new director in the chair.

Seriously? Apocalypse is surely not that great, but it's far from being worst than X3.

X3 was better. the film flowed better and I felt the performances were better as well.

I'm not going to come down on Singer too much considering that he still had to work under Fox. Fox the same studio that forced James Mangold to add all of that BS into the third act of The Wolverine. X-men Apocalypse felt like a rushed project that the studio ordered because of the success of DOFP. (This is not to excuse Singer from all of his other directing issues)

It felt as if fox was trying to turn x-men into mcu movies which is weird because most x-men stories dont fit mcu at all. i give it another 6 months to a year, singer will do an interview and tells us what really happened.

How about Fox tried to make the X-films into the MCU without the right architect to make it work? ANd while the MCU films are alot more...light at times than the more serious X-films, they also are able to go into different tones and story ideas.

If Fox wants the films to succeed, they need to back off and let a vision/idea person and some good editors step up and progress things.

The more sway they are going to want to have with how that film is put together. I think keeping it below 100 million might be the sweet spot to keep the studio execs out of the way. Which is why Tim, Ryan & friends were able to make Deadpool with the freedom that they did, even after all those budget cuts.

Agreed. Apocalypse was a mess but I enjoyed it way more than X3.

I personally loved X-Men Apocalypse. Jean finally got to shine.
