    Nerdy knitpick moment...

    That's actually Citizen Steel.

And these two were chosen to host an event about women, why?

I'm assuming it was probably something like "drawing the female form in comics" or something as opposed to "women's issues in the industry." At least that's what I'm guessing/hoping.

Will this be the end of CBR again?

Very poor decision on Manara's part. I mean, come on, there's "being defiant" and there's actively just trolling people. That "gift" was much more the latter.

Well, the gift itself is whatever. Artists draw whatever they want on their own time, power to them. Even if it is odd. And probably the least sexy Spider-woman thing I've seen in a good while.

This however and posting it as such is definitely him trying to piss people off (at which point he'll go on about people's annoyance as if it's censorship). Manara seems to live in his own bubble (plus I don't think too deeply about a guy who made anti Islam sentiments after his Spider-woman cover was critisized) so I don't think as much less of him. He really doesn't get it. Cho however continues to simply be a troll.

But yeah. At the rate he's going I wouldn't be surprised if Cho ends up BEING the reason less "sexy" stuff is allowed because fans get tired of his antics.

But yeah Cho's never fought against censorship or rights of the artists. He's fought for his own ability to do whatever he wants without criticism. If he CARED about creative rights he wouldn't have had issues with Rucka whose creative rights he tried getting around during his Wonder Woman work just to play a victim.

I was never sure that WAS a bulge. Probably why Ross got away with it.

Seemed more like lines on his briefs to indicate he was turning as part of his pose.

He didn't really "get away with it," as threads at the old CBR would show. Way too many fanboys lost their shit over that painting. And, it's not even, well, huge or anything. It's just how that looks when you slip on a skintight outfit, or even just tight pants.

I have to give Ross props for not being afraid of male bodies. There are artists who are, especially in comics. They've got to aggressively de-sex male bodies in a way that putting a jacket on Spider-Woman is not. Literally just Ken dolling them or avoiding any angle that might lead to certain thoughts, etc. Then, you've got Ross, or Gil Kane, for another one. Kane never cheated his male bodies or his female ones, whether they were fit, sexy superheroes or schlubby so-and-sos on a street corner. Not eroticizing, per se, but not desperately avoiding anything that might be a sexual or sexualized characteristic at all times in men, etc.

The funniest of the Cho series with butt-shots, for me, was the Darth Vader one, and then I found out that one (of course) wasn't actually his, but someone mocking his. Because Cho would never, even as a gag, draw a dude like that. It's only "natural" if it's teenage girls and stuff.

Cloth not working right in comics is a pet peeve of mine.
And the physics of wall-crawling in heels doesn't work either.

If Cho and Manara want to draw smut that's their own business. I just wish that they stopped acting like noble champions against censorship.
Manara's argument, whether or not you agree with it (I do), has been that almost no American superheroes are drawn any other way: hardly any of them wear tights that look like an extra layer of fabric.

*If* the fans want this artistic approach, it's because they've become accustomed to the conceit. But the origins of the conceit stem from wider cultural predilections, which sought at all times to efface male sexuality, even with real-life performers. Reputedly Burt Ward as Robin was always having his shorts adjusted so that he wouldn't display his maleness to an innocent TV audience.

This remind me at the Tracer ass controversy in overwatch, where it was needed only 1 complain to remove the pose of Tracer looking at her ass, sure they added another one but still it was only needed a minority who complained about to remove.

This remind me, at the beguining of the year marvel announced a sexy men cover but they never came, there one where Cap was showing a nipple and one with Dr Strange drew by the Squirrel girl artist.
