Rofl, I just realized that for the duration of the story, I'm going to have to keep looking at those two characters

Wonder what abhorrent thing Jurgens will make a loved character will do next painted as a positive.

Great art though, but that's the story of this title so far.

    This is really happening.

Now we're going to have Superman tell Jon (and the readers) why he's not wearing his old costume.

On the positive side, the art in this issue looks a lot cleaner than the last two issues.

Whatever the reason is, it will definitely include a unsubtle jab at New 52 Superman and his costume. You just know it will. Maybe even a rip on the current costume as well if not using the classic is an on-high edict like I think it is.

The new 52 costume never got much in the way of defending so who cares.

Kirkham is alright, right now I am digging the clarity and sleekness.

Just pointing out his penchant to take a shot at anything he doesn't like. Its the only thing he's accomplished during his run outside of ruining Lois, so I expect it to continue is all. It'll end up something like "Oh I just decided to try a new costume to try and fit in a bit with the fashions of this world, even though it sucks. Could be worse though, would you want me to wear what the other Superman wore? Har har har." Then Superman will help Lex beat some intergalactic charges that he's probably 100% guilty of and they'll hug it out afterward.

If Jurgens goes that way, it'll be the most positive accomplishment of his run.

Heh, fair enough, I know I'm in the minority in thinking the hate for that costume was very exaggerated. The lack of collar and the classic S with the bottom serif are the only things I like better about this one. However, the most positive accomplishment of his run will be when its over and Action Comics is given to a good writer again.

I think he'll say it has to do with honoring the Superman that died.

    I loved the Armour-Collar outfit!

    Even preferred the 52 S-Shield.

    You guys suck :P

The new outfit always reminds me of Overman. I think it's the dark boots.

As long as we stay away from the Outer-Undies, I can deal with the rest.

What do you even know about the New 52 suit? That thing had abilities of it's own. Like it could keep it's wearer powered in a Red Sun environment for an extended period of time. That's Useful. Plus it could help it's wearer metabolize Solar energy more efficiently. Useful. Kryptonite has a reduced effect on him. Useful. Plus the Cape was indestructible. USEFUL! The Supersuit was SUPER again. What was so bad about that?

Because to a sizable portion of the readership and fandom,it looked like crap.

However I did like the nanotech properties. It had a lot of potential. The problem was it was rarely utilized. To the world it just looked like an arbitrary change to make Superman"kewl". In concept it was sound. In execution,it left much to be desired.
When it comes to comics, one person's "fan-service" is another persons personal cannon. So by definition it's ALL fan service. Aren't we ALL fans?
SUPERMAN is the greatest fictional character ever created.

For 73 years (1938–2011), Superman got along fine without a supersuit. And even after her got one, it was practically superfluous. Aside from a handful of issues when it was first introduced, its “special properties” never had any impact on the story; and even in those issues, it was more about the story justifying suit than the suit being useful.

And frankly, that's got nothing to do with what the suit's appearance should be. And if we're going to argue about whether or not the suit makes sense, let me submit that the cape is as pointless as the red trunks.
    Rogue wears rouge.

Yes I think all those things for his suit are unnecessary gimmicks for a Superman. If this was the 90s, I can imagine the suit also be a symbiont.
