I've been rewatching the movies before No Time To Die. It's very interesting how the adaptations differ and yet are similar. For example, in the Dr.No novel the reason Bond gets a new gun is that the other gun jammed during From Russia With Love, which in novel continuity takes place before-and in that novel, Bond was nearly killed with the poison shoe. The Dr.No movie alludes to a similar incident. When From Russia With Love the movie rolls around, obviously it takes place *after* Dr.No so the adapted incident has a different outcome-Tatiana is present, for one, and shoots Klebb, so Bond gets to spend the end of the movie on a nice Venice boat ride instead of lapsing into unconsciousness with only Mathis arriving in the nick of time to save him at the last minute.

So there's some pre-Dr.No mission in The Dr.No-Die Another Day film canon, which had near-fatal consequences for Bond because of a gun jam, just not the Lektor inciddent.


Also M in the novel figures that Strangways just ran off with the secretary (Something Dent, in the movie, brings up and unintentionally is a clue to his involvement for Bond) and sees the mission as a relaxing one for Bond to go back into action, while M in the movie is dead serious about his missing agent.

Yeah, I typically try to watch the movies that are based on the novels after I read one of Fleming's books to see how well the movie follows the book. My favorites are usually ones like Casino Royale that modernize aspects of the novel but generally stick to the plot of the book, well besides the first hour of the movie that isn't in the book, compared to something like Moonraker that has basically nothing to do with the novel it is "adapting" (which annoys me more than usual as the novel Moonraker is one of my favorite of the Fleming Bond books I've read). I haven't read the novel Dr. No, so I can't speak to how closely the movie follows the book. It is interesting to think about what the Bond franchise would have been like if Fleming had stuck to his original plan to kill Bond off at the end of From Russia with Love.

Oh, I'd love for him to take another shot, for sure. It really could've been very good. It might even be the case that a novel has already tackled Bond's retirement in some way, but none that I've read yet. I'm hoping that we might get a comics mini series some day along those lines.

Funny thing is both Goldeneye and Die Another Day are more or less better adaptations of Moonraker than the actual movie (and not really because of their space weapons, but the villains in both films both seem to be similar to the book version of Drax)

Dr.No is more or less fairly similar, although Bond previously knew Strangways and Quarrel from Live and Let Die, I don't think Felix is in the book, Dr.No has nothing to do with SPECTRE and his death is somewhat a bit more gross.

They released a new teaser during the Superbowl. Some new footage shown in it, but a lot of what we saw in the original trailer. I'm glad they are playing this movie close to the vest and not releasing a whole lot about it. Gets me more excited for the movie going into it not knowing a whole lot about the direction they are going with it:

It's kind of cool that Craig has pretty much made the sunglasses pretty much a trademark of his Bond. Although the other Bonds did wear them on occasion (Connery mostly, and I think Moore/Dalton/Brosnan mostly wore ones that doubled as gadgets), it really seems to be something that's uniquely suited to his Bond.

Kind of curious about Madeline's secret. Maybe she has even more of a connection to SPECTRE than she's let on; perhaps she's somehow responsible for the weird veins of Rami's character somehow.

Maybe the "Kidnapped scientist" is Swann herself.

Definitely not a fan of this lady’s voice, and not hugely impressed by the song, although that could change in the context of the film so I don’t want to judge too much. However, a big positive for it is that it did fill me with a sense of foreboding for 007 in No Time to Die....

I actually really enjoyed the song. I agree that it did a great job building a foreboding atmosphere, which kind of reminded me of the Skyfall theme. I felt her voice went along well with the foreboding nature of the song. I agree that it probably hints towards the end of Bond's relationship with Madeline, though I hope that isn't the actual end result in the film. If this is Craig's last film, I would rather they end it with Bond and Madeline together. The lines "That I'd fallen for a lie, you were never on my side , fool me once, fool me twice" definitely commenting on whatever occurs between Madeline and Bond in the film, also made me think of Bond's relationship with Vesper.
