If I remember correctly, there was some split opinion on Moustafa's art in Solstice. Anyway, here is a link to his ongoing film pin ups - they are crazy good!

The World is Not Enough is a close second, but On her Majesty's Secret Service wins it for me. Wait until you see it, it is really 'atmospheric'. I'm not sure that is the word I want, but I'm exhausted just now :P Anyway, it says a lot in one picture...

Those pin-ups are fantastic! I had to look through each one a couple times because I noticed I missed details on my first viewing of several of them. I agree with you that the OHMSS one is the best. That Spectre logo that forms on the window is just chilling. I think the Casino Royale one is my second favorite. Its a simple design but I love it. The World is Not Enough one is also stunning. I also really like the Spy Who Loved Me, though I think a lot of that has to do with how much I love the character of Jaws. Thanks for sharing these!

No worries at all! I will show one in a video for the JB guide, but the vintage hardcover editions of the Fleming novels have that same 'art within art' idea going on, really good stuff.

Read the Body #5 today. Like most of the previous issues, I really enjoyed it. The issue is essentially just Bond chasing a target, but I felt it went well with the lungs being the body part being focused on this issue. It reminded me a bit of the chase scene from Casino Royale. I also liked Bond's thoughts throughout the chase. Parts of it reminded me of times Bond would reflect on his life and what his purpose was in the Fleming novels. Sherman's art was a bit hit or miss for me. I didn't feel like his panels were very detailed, which bothered me, but I loved his panel layouts through the issue if that makes any sense. I also felt like I read through this issue a lot faster than I did the previous issues, which was slightly disappointing. Overall, though, I really liked it and am looking forward to the last issue of this series.

I get what you mean - I can spend quite a long time 'investigating' a good panel. I won't read it for a while because I have no single issues now, but I absolutely love the cover, I think that I even prefer it in B/W actually.

Excuse me gentlemen, I just signed up here so that I could talk Bond comics and ask a burning question.

Does anybody know what we'll see from Dynamite after The Body finishes up next month?
It wasn't long ago that we had two Bond story arcs running with a little overlap, and at least a couple stand alone titles in the pipeline.
Now we have nothing at all.
Is Dynamite done with 007 after The Body?

Welcome Emerald! I have been wondering the same thing. It has been mentioned that a title called James Bond: Origins, which will detail Bond's early military service, is going to be released at some point, but I don't think its been given an official release date beyond possibly some time this fall. I haven't even heard about a creative team being assigned to Origins yet. Beyond that, I haven't heard about anything else yet. I'm hoping that once the last issue of the Body is released next month, we will hear about the next arc coming out. I can't imagine that Dynamite will be done with Bond already.

I fear the worst. If they had something in the pipeline we'd have heard about it by now. At best we'll have to wait several months before seeing a new comic, at worst the mag is in limbo.
One of the reasons I'm waxing pessimistic is that I have three comic stores in easy traveling distance and none of them has had the last several issues of James Bond. Starting with the last couple installments of Kill Chain I've had to special order them.
Bothers me more than it should as this is one of the very few comics I never miss.

I do agree that its strange we haven't heard anything about what is coming next. I do agree we will probably have to wait a couple months for the next series to start since nothing is in the pipeline at the moment. I can't imagine Dynamite is going to leave Bond in limbo, though, considering that Bond 25 was officially announced last week. I would guess Dynamite would want to release more comics to try to capitalize on the build up to the next film. Do we have any idea how the sales have been on these Bond series? I don't normally keep an eye on sales.

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles you have been having with your comic stores. So far I have not experienced any issues with my comic shop not having the most recent issues of Bond. I agree that this is one of the only comics I keep up with month to month.

Yeah, with the announcement off the new Bond movie you'd think Dynamite would be ready to roll, but the past year or so has seen 007's presence on the newsstand drop from as many as three related titles visible at once to a single title at a time. And that's a single title that I've consistently had to to special order. I can't imagine that this is the profile of a successful comic.

All that said, I have no trouble ordering the comic if that's what I have to do to to get it. I just want there to be more issues. It's been years since I enjoyed a comic as much as I did first three story arcs, and if what followed wasn't quite as awesome it was still great fun. Dynamite really seemed to have the right attitude about how to handle the series. I hope it keeps rolling.

I was looking up some of the sales figures last night (since I needed an excuse to avoid working on my dissertation). From what I found, there has been a continuous decline in number of issues bought since the first issue of VARGR was released. So far, the numbers I saw for the Body issues sold were roughly: Issue #1-5,949, Issue #2-5,308, Issue #3-5,133, and Issue #4-5,048. That said, a majority of the Dynamite comics I saw sell below 10,000 per issue so I don't think the Body is selling that far from the norm for Dynamite. Dynamite was also promoting the Bond comics during the recent Free Comic Book Day, so I think their is still an interest on their end to continue the franchise. Like I said, I can't see them letting this next Bond movie go by without trying to capitalize on it in some capacity.

I think that several of the mini-series that came after Ellis's run and the Felix Leiter series felt a lot like generic Bond stories, in my opinion. I didn't think they were terrible or anything, but several of them didn't necessary feel essential or as inventive as Ellis's arcs or the Felix Leiter series did.

They have finally given an update on the James Bond Origins comic. It will be written by Jeff Parker and the artist will be Bob Q. The first issue will be released in September. The story will be set in 1941 and will revolve around a 17 year-old James Bond. I haven't read anything by Jeff Parker before, but I have heard that his Batman 66 series was pretty enjoyable, so I'm hopeful for this series. I'm excited to be getting something a bit different from the James Bond series. Since the last issue of The Body comes out this week, it sucks that we will have to wait two months until we have more Bond comics but I'm happy to finally be getting some new information about what will be coming from Bond next.

It does suck, but at least we have an update! How would you rate the most recent issue of The Body? I'm completely off single issues now, so I will have to wait for the HC :P

The last issue of The Body isn't out until tomorrow here, so hopefully I'll be able to swing by my comic shop at some point this week. I pretty excited for the final issue but sad that it will be the last Bond issue we get for awhile. Hopefully they release some news about the next Bond movie to help tide us over until September.

Of course there have been decades between Bond comics in the past so two months isn't too long to wait. I am glad that Dynamite are experimenting with the character and moving on from of some of the generic action comics which happen to feature James Bond. It's nice to see that we're getting storing featuring "Bond Prime" i.e. the Bond that Ian Fleming wrote who has a specific year of birth and will feature his run-up to his enrolling to serve in World War Two. It'll be interesting how much freedom the writer will have to alter from the Bond formula with a teen-aged and inexperienced James Bond.
