I read Serpent's Tooth today. Honestly, it was pretty crap. I did like the art, and given that Moench penned it, I was expecting it to be good. It was too ridiculous for me and he was trying too hard to get puns in. The bad jokes are an aspect of James Bond, but it was just constant and they were awful. I actually struggled to finish it and its only three books, which I think was about 5-6 issues worth. Verdict - read it if you get the chance, but I wouldn't bother hunting it down or anything :P

I love Moonraker I think because it is pretty different from the other books. Of the five Fleming Bond books I've read, Moonraker is tied with Casino Royale for my favorite. I agree that I love the various moments Fleming puts in all the novels that show Bond isn't this indestructible action hero. I liked the line (I believe it was in Moonraker) that Bond notes he doesn't actually believe he will live to the forced retirement age, thus why he is so present focused. I also enjoyed the twist at the end that Bond doesn't end up with the girl. On the other side of this, the Moonraker movie is probably one of my least favorite Bond films.

I haven't read Serpent's Tooth (honestly never even heard of it until I saw your post). When was it released? The bad puns sound like something out of a really bad Bronson Bond film.

It was 199(2?). There are a bunch of Dark Horse mini series (one which was never completed) plus some adaptations too. It was indeed Moonraker that he mentions that, it was quite a poignant moment actually. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the novels, but I'm a bit apprehensive about the non-Fleming novels.

I haven't read any of the Dark Horse mini series. Are there any good ones?

The only non-Fleming Bond novel I've read was Carte Blanche, which was a modern day interpretation of Bond and was not set in the continuity of the other novels. I enjoyed that novel a lot, though I felt the ending was pretty anti-climatic and Bond wasn't the brutal killer he is in the Fleming novels or the recent comics.

Carte Blanche looks decent, it will go on ze list! Excuse the Dad's Army reference, but it is my all time favourite TV show :P

Regarding DH, Serpent's Tooth is the first series that I've read but I am planning to get Shattered Helix and also another series by Eclipse, called Permission to Die. I'm intending to get all of the DH series eventually.

I got Service signed by Kieron and Jamie today, I love it. They even agreed to a themed signing for me haha

    That's awesome! I'm a little bit jealous.

I also finished Leiter #6 today. While it was good, I felt it was a bit anti-climatic. Especially after the build up we have had the previous couple of issues. That said, they left it open ended, so we can hopefully get another Felix Leiter series in the future.

I won't get to read it until I get back home, which should be for a couple days around the 12th/13th, so not too long to wait! I asked Kieron if he would be interested in doing a full James Bond arc and coercing Jamie into doing the art for it, he responded that it is something he would enjoy (and that he could have easily made Service a full arc, which was my leading point haha, but that with WicDiv it just couldn't happen right now. So, hopefully, in the future...

    Just read Hammerhead HC.

Diggle is one of my three favorite writers. Cannot wait for Kill Chain.

Nah, its self contained, so long as you know who Moneypenny is. Although, in the one-shot she is a little more 'active' I believe.

Read Black Box #5. I enjoyed it a lot more than the previous couple of issues. I feel like the plot is really gearing up and I'm interested in the ending of issue. Only problem I have, which has been a reoccurring problem in this mini, is that I feel Felix and Bond are much more verbal aggressive with each other in this than they have been in the other mini series or books. Feels like they are creating drama for the sake of drama.

I've also been re-playing the From Russia with Love game from 2005. I'm having a blast playing it again. It's making me want to re-watch the movie. Shame that they haven't been producing any Bond games again recently.

I don't think that I ever played that one, I think it was Goldeneye that I had... I loved it though, I used to do AI free for all with all of the villains :P
