Haha yeah, initially I thought it was possibly Oddjob's son going after Bond for revenge, but I would prefer if Pak didn't go that route. I think that there is enough wiggle room in the novel involving Oddjob's death that Pak could come up with an explanation for how he survived.

Much more pleased to hear of the new ongoing series than the Young Bond storyline. Seems to me that 'origin stories' are the bane of much comic-based entertainment, and Bond has done very well without an origin for 65 years.
That said, I'll certainly buy and read those comics. Just don't have a lot of anticipation.
Hopefully the new ongoing will offer some of the solid storytelling we saw in the first few arcs.

Just re-read The Body arc and have mixed emotions. The art's fine and the author handles dialogue and character beats very well, but the plot is blurry and works too hard to undercut Bond as a heroic figure. Attempts to expand on 007's character with lyrical lapses into introspection and self doubt seemed overstated and awkward. And while it was kind of clever to tell a Bond story without a master villain for him to battle, I missed knowing more about the forces he was up against.
Worth reading, but I won't be adding the hardcover to my collection, as I did with the first three story arcs.

I do agree that origin stories are usually a tricky subject to tackle and many of the comic stories revolving around them have been at best meh and at worst garbage. That said, based on Pak's comments about sticking closely to the details provided by Fleming about Bond's origin and the information we have received so far, I'm pretty excited for this series. I'm looking forward to both series coming out this fall as they both feel very different from the Dynamite Bond comics recently, which to me many have felt bland and generic.

For the most part, I loved The Body. I didnt feel the introspective portions of it were that out of place. I recall several points in the Fleming novels where Bond questioned what he was doing and had introspective moments. One of my favorite parts of the novel version of Casino Royale is a portion where Bond and Mathis discuss the nature of evil and Bond's work for MI6. I also feel that Fleming didnt always portray Bond as a heroic figure. I do agree that it was anticlimactic that we didnt really learning anything about the individuals behind everything in the miniseries. I felt it was a bit tacked on in the final issue in order to pull all the threads from the miniseries together. That said, I really liked that final issue so I was willing to forgive that part of it.

I don't know when I will read the complete series to be honest, probably not until I get back from Cambridge in October On the plus side, my Case File Vol 1 is out for delivery, but to my parents :P

Yeah, I feel I'll have a similar problem in regards to keeping up with my weekly comics once I start my internship next week. When did you start at Cambridge? And at least you will have some great comics waiting for you in regards to Case File once you get back.

I started on 9/7/18, will be here until 29/9/18. Although, if I don't get a PhD lined up in time, then I will maybe hang around (or go elsewhere) if I can get a one-year contract in a lab somewhere. It's been 33 degrees at times here - we've actually had to shut machines down because the AC couldn't cope! Are you heading somewhere nice?

Best of luck with the PhD search! And I just moved across the country to Las Vegas for my internship. I feel like I have to re-read Diamonds are Forever now since that book mainly takes place in Vegas. And I feel your pain in regards to the heat. it was 46 degrees here when I was moving into my apartment last week.

Yeah, Vegas has been a blast so far. Its been a nice change of pace, which is what I needed. Plus its been cool checking out some of the locations they filmed Diamonds Are Forever in. And that's awesome. Best of luck with it!

And I know what you mean about missing Bond. I got Forever and a Day in the mail the other day and have been reading that to help hold me over until Origins is released next month.

Mine arrived at my parents but I haven't read it yet - worth it? I think that I have Trigger Mortis waiting too...

I'm about half way through it and I am loving it so far. I had to special order it from London since it's not getting released in the States until November and so far it's been worth it. There are a few things that annoy me but they are fairly minor. I'll write up a more in depth review of my thoughts on it once I've finished it. I haven't read TM yet but assuming the 2nd half of this doesn't completely fall apart, I'll be seeking out TM to read as well.

I think TM comes before, but I have no idea if they're connected.

If I'm recalling right, I believe that TM takes place a week or two after the events of Goldfinger and isn't really connected to Forever and a Day
