I just finished Trigger Mortis. Honestly, it's a solid Bond book, but he definitely upped his game when he wrote Forever and a Day. What I really like is that a small part, maybe a page I think, is Fleming's original script. I would definitely give it a read though, a solid entry

I think a chapter in Forever and a Day was based on an idea from Fleming as well. Good to here that Trigger Mortis is solid. I need to pick it up at some point.

Read the first three issues of Pak's 007 series. So far, I'm really enjoying this series. Probably my favorite Bond comics since the Felix mini. This series must not take place within the same continuity as the Fleming books because Pak is writing this as the first time Bond has met Oddjob. I'm a bit conflicted about this as I like having the comics take place in the same continuity as the novels, but I also enjoy seeing modern takes on classic Bond characters that were killed off in the novels. This version of Oddjob is also pretty different from the version in the novel in the movie. That said, I'm really enjoy this modern version of Oddjob. He is very much the mirror version of Bond. Also, I love the the art by Laming. Everything by him is incredible. I'm disappointed that someone else is taking over art duties starting with issue #4. Overall, this series has been well worth the wait.

An image of his version of Oddjob. Laming is becoming one of those artists that I might just pick up any book by him going forward:

Bond 25 has been delayed until April 2020. I'm glad they are taking their time with it instead of rushing it to make a deadline like WB did with Justice League, but it is starting to make me wonder if we are ever going to see this movie:

Just read HAMMERHEAD. Anybody think that the plot was pretty much derivative of THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH? Except there's no real Renard or Christmas characters; otherwise, it's pretty much Bond protects bereaved heiress, only to discover she's the real villain (especially when she captures M!). Just switch out the film's oil pipeline to the titular railgun.

I hadn't thought about that connection when I was reading it, but now that you mention it I do see the similarities. Nice observation! I do remember feeling like both of Diggles stories, Hammerhead and Kill Chain, were both pretty generic Bond stories. I didn't think they were terrible, but there was nothing in them that really made me want to go back and read them. Diggles Bond also felt more like movie Bond to me than novel Bond, if that makes sense.

It's a reasonable observation and a fair criticism. Although, to be honest, it didn't inhibit the story for me. I can't remember what did, but I'm pretty sure that I moaned about Hammerhead :P Also, I love the Oddjob art! It looks as if Oddjob is portrayed with a bit more 'normality'...

It looks like they're mainly keeping a lot of his physically durable nature at least from what I've read. In Goldfinger he was certainly hard for Bond to take on in hand-to-hand combat (although Grant was strong, he wasn't at all indestructible, and relied far more on stealth than brute force) so he largely had to resort to other methods, a trend that would later be re-used with Jaws and Hinx, as well as some of the lesser known Bond henchmen here and there.

Hinx really passed me by, didn't feel at all memorable. I actually tend to forget about him until somebody reminds me... What do you all think of this idea of killing Bond off and getting the whole 'alias' thing going? Personally, I think it's a bloody awful idea. To clarify, this isn't a question of whether Bond 'is' an alias already, that debate has been had to death and is irrelevant since we are on a reboot.

Hinx was probably one of the only things I really liked about Spectre, though I also really like Dave Battista as well which probably helped. I hate the idea of Bond being an alias. Plus that would likely require other people like Felix and Moneypenny to just be an alias as well. Plus it gives me flashbacks to that terrible Casino Royale movie from the 60s....as for killing Bond, for me it depends how it is done. If they kill Bond to set up that alias idea, I hate it. Or if they just do it to have a shocking ending I would probably dislike that as well. But if they do something like Logan where the craft a well done story that naturally ends with Bonds death I would be fine with it. I dont really want Craig's last movie to end with him dying though because it would naturally lead to a reboot and Casino Royale wasnt that long ago, so I dont want to reboot again already.

Checked out KILL CHAIN as well. Seemed a bit more original, although the basic idea of a spy war is similar to THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS.

To be honest I'm struggling to remember what happened in Kill Chain. I know I enjoyed the first issue of it but after that I got bored with what was going on.

If I remember correctly, agents are being assassinated and they're like 'Yo, Bond, go do yo thang'. Also, very few Bond ideas are going to be entirely original I think :P
