I like a couple of his early ones, like Man with the Golden Gun and Spy Who Loved Me. But as he continued, I feel like his got worse. I hate Moonraker, though I feel like that's mainly because I love the book and feel the movie is a real disappointment.

To be fair, the film takes a great book and makes it utterly ridiculous, even for Bond :P

It's kind of interesting that both GOLDENEYE and DIE ANOTHER DAY borrow heavily from Moonraker's novel version. Drax's plan is similar to Alec's, for example.

As for Moore, Live and Let Die was pretty good IMO-it's sort of a unique Bond film with it's supernatural elements and a different kind of musical score. Man with the Golden Gun however, I felt that they tried to make Moore's Bond "tough" like Connery (Come to think of it, pretty much everybody at MI6 has a short temper in the film for some weird reason). SPY of course is a classic....Moonraker sort of tried the same formula but got way too goofy by playing Jaws even more so for laughs (It's got some nice highlights though-the effects for the station and shuttles are pretty decent, and it has one of the best John Barry scores, even if Shirley Bassey's tune is the weakest of her three).

For Your Eyes Only was very good IMO, told a more down-to-earth story that really worked IMO, although it starts and ends kind of goofy (The Blofeld scene and the Thatcher scene). Octopussy is a bit of a mixed bag, it looked like they were trying to mix the complicated cold war plot of FYEO with the more comedic and outlandish parts of Moore and it came off kind of meh. View To A Kill overall was pretty bad, the action scenes in particular suffer because it's obvious that the film is using doubles apart from the close-ups (The blue screen effects are pretty bad even by 80's standards). Also a pretty poor main Bond girl and the plot pretty much being a redux of Goldfinger. Walken and Jones are kind of fun though, and of course I've always liked the theme tune, and that Barry's score includes some nice callbacks to On Her Majesty's Secret Service (although the two films are nothing alike).

AVtoK is one of my favourite soundtracks. I'm actually more excited about the soundtrack for the new film than the film itself :P

Kind of curious who they're going to get to sing this time. The Craig songs have been kind of give and take, and it seems like both "Another way to die" and "Writing on the Wall" tried to mostly copy their predecessors. Grunge rock tune and sad ballad.

It's kind of funny that David Arnold's score for "Quantum of Solace" actually uses "You Know My name" in the film (When Bond reconnects with Mathis) without a trace of AWTD that I could find (There's also an alternate song that features one of the film's motifs, "No good about goodbye" sung by Shirley Bassey).

Wondering if Thomas Newman is still attached or left with Mendes. Although I liked a lot of his incidental music, it looks like he mainly just stuck with Arnold's renditions of the Bond theme instead of his own take on it.

I don't think there are any Craig tracks that I've disliked actually... Not just the themes, but the general soundtracks have been fantastic.

I dont dislike the theme for Quantum, but I find it fairly unmemorable. I love the themes for the other three Craig films though.

So there are rumors that the new film will involve genetic warfare/engineering, although it's unclear how. Closest I think we've come to that is the weird plastic surgery from Die Another Day, although I'm guessing one of the Gardner or Benson books might've used it at one point.

Just about to embark on a reread of all of the Dynamite James Bond. I'm very much looking forward to this

You will have to keep me updated as you read through them Enigma, particularly if your views of certain story arcs change. I'm hoping to getting around to rereading the arcs at some point as well. Probably will once I finish reading through the Fleming novels

Interesting they are including his car. I dont really consider it a classic Bond car, but it's a nice throw back to his films. Interesting that the article notes that this is suppose to be a more nostalgic film. I wonder if the feel of this movie is going to be more in line with something like Skyfall than say Casino Royale or Quantum.

Oh, nice! That reminds me actually... My Bond shelves are the only ones absent of figurines of any kind, so I'm thinking some cars might be in order? :P

I can't remember if I hated the art in Black Box this much previously, but ewwwww...

I want to get some of the James Bond Funko Pop figures, like the the Jaws and Oddjob ones at some point.

And I honestly dont really remember the art from Black Box. From what I recall it was fine to me. Masters basically set the bar for me and everything else is various degrees below that regarding Bond artists. That said, I recall liking the artist who drew the Felix mini a lot but I'm blanking on who the artist for that was.
