Has anybody heard anything about the next arc? I haven't, so I presume that Hammerhead and Felix are all we get for a while.

Somebody mentioned earlier in the thread that Ben Percy will be taking over once Ellis finished, but I haven't heard anything about when his issues are coming out

I ought to read the novels, but I have so much back reading I'm trying to do, and exams :P
Irma Bunt (Blofeld's second in command in OHMSS) makes an appearence in the novel version of "You Only Live Twice" which in the book continuity, is set after the events of OHMSS-and apart from Blofeld and the Japanese setting, is very different in it's plot.

Film-wise, don't forget Mr. White, who appeared in Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Spectre.

As for the villains mentioned, May Day and Xenia were pretty much invented for the films. Scaramanga was a largely different character for the most part in the novel; considerably more crude if I remember correctly. Jaws was 'sort of' in the novel version of Spy Who Loved Me-there's a similar villain not called Sluggsy.

However, it should be noted that some of the novel adaptations of the films tried to integrate themselves into the novel's continuity (They continued making Bond novels after Fleming died, although I guess it's up to the reader if they are 'canon'-Colonel Sun is probably be best known and actually is referenced in Die Another Day and Spectre). This was kind of the case with the novel adaptation of the film of Spy Who Loved Me, which was written by one of the screenwriters but was done in a sort of Fleming style with major differences from the film. The Licence to Kill novel also does this, with the result being is that one has to suspend disbelief that Felix is maimed twice.

I would recommend checking out the novels. Bond is somewhat different and grittier-while Dalton and Craig have come close to Fleming's idea of Bond, this is even more different. He doesn't have as much of a sense of humor, there aren't really any gadgets, etc. and some of the plots are *really* different (Especially Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker). The closest books to the films are probably From Russia With Love, Thunderball (Which of course has an interesting history) and On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and some of the short stories are pretty much expanded into full films (For Your Eyes Only,Octopussy and the Living Daylights for instance incorporate several elements from Fleming's shorter Bond stories; Spectre also uses the Octopussy story as part of it's plot)-or sequences are kind of mixed and match throughout-Live and Let Die is a good example of this, with elements of it popping up in For Your Eyes Only (The boat drag) and Licence to Kill (again Felix's maiming). Even the films without novel titles do borrow a bit-the plots of Goldeneye and Die Another Day have quite a bit in common with the novel version of Moonraker.

Finally got to reading issue #12. I thought it was a great end to the arc. I enjoyed the fight between Bond and Hawkwood. I'm sad to see Ellis go but I'm curious to see what Percy will bring to the title

Me too! It was a good fight indeed, not quite what I was expecting, but good!

Yeah, it reminded me of some of Bond's fights against Jaws. Regardless of how much Bond tried to beat on him, Hawkwood just kept coming until he managed to get that stab in towards the end. I also liked the scene where Hawkwood tries to grab Birdwhistle and she just stabs him with the pen.

Felix was as good as I expected! Can't wait for #2. The preview for Percy's first arc, Blackbox (out in March) was very short, but in two pages, it was VERY Bond! Excited!

Yeah, I thought it was a solid opening to the series with a haunting ending. Also enjoyed the flashback scene between Felix and James.

Also, when is Hammerhead #4 coming out? I could have sworn it was suppose to be this week
