That's a stretch on a good day, but I am still failing to see what Trump's victory has to do with Fox and the X-Men on any level. It just seems like a paper-thin excuse to get a political discussion going, which is fine, but the excuse to create it is garbage. Just my two cents.

Respect and dignity. LOL. We've already got one poster saying that they don't see how a Trump voter could be an X-Men fan. That right there is inflammatory and doesn't speak to respect or dignity.

What can I say, Back around 2000 I was on the Star Trek BBS, there was a sub board called "The Neutral Zone"(a Political board), one of the threads devolved into "why don't blacks go back to Africa?"

on a STAR TREK board, fandoms have all types.

Funny thing is, as a Pan Africanist something I developed over the course of over 15 years despite being the son of a Rastafarian (yeah I didn't just embrace my dad's philosophy)...If I knew then what I know now.

Not getting the point of this thread at all. If anything, the Fox-Men would be lumped in with the liberal media that got its ass soundly kicked.

    Liberal?

Large media conglomerate companies, run my wealthy men of European decent with an Anglo American centrist point of view?

What is your definition of Liberal?

I can see "Establishment" but Liberal? In the American definition of Liberal?

if the media were liberal, Bernie Sanders would have won that primary. we have all of these extreme right wing nutjobs because the democrat establishment is already so far to the right.

'Liberal' as in 'Patting themselves on the back for thinking they're actual leftists'.

Oh, so Chris Hedges, Librals are a centrists standing in for the actual american left that was systematically dismantled in the decades following WW2.

Hardcore, but perfectly understandable, I once looked up the Wobblies (Industrial Workers of the World), researched the Black Panther Party, the Young Lords, the Martin Luther King no one talks about (not the I have a dream teaddybear), Malcolm X...

Yeah, what can i say but Liberals are a poor substitute for an actual Political Left.

I think what you guys are reaching for is classic liberalism versus modern liberalism. The classic version is sane, the latter...well, that depends on who you ask.

Depends on where you are from, Classical Liberalism as in turn of the century ideals inspired my Marx and his criticism's a capitalism in the late 1800's was only dismantled in the United States. While the Communist and Socialist ideals and the Labor Unions were never dismantled in Europe particularly Western Europe the way the were in the USA, I mean look at the behavior of France.

They don't business or corporate power with nearly as much reverence it find in America.

ironically we have a MCU biased media that functions as a liberal media in pop culture. notice how the media eats up and give mcu a pass of anything and everything they do. even proecting their bad movies like age of ultron of ultron and iron man 3.

how many movie series has the media let get away with a constant one formula and horrible mediocre villains for straight 14 movies. only mcu movie series. yeah...drop mic

The Original American Left (i.e. non-college-educated working class) was gradually beaten into unconsciousness by McCarthyism and the Red Scare during the Cold War of the 1950s-1970s, lapsed into a coma in the 1980s by Reaganism, and finally euthanized in the 1990s by the collapse of the Soviet Union and the End of History. It was briefly revived as a ghost by the 2000 Anti-WTO Protests in Seattle, was temporarily exorcised by 9-11 and the 2001 War on Terror, briefly arose from the grave as a zombie due to the 2008 Recession and the OWS Movement in Manhattan, but it was again "mercy-ed" in 2015-2016 by the recent Cuban rapproachment, the Venezuelan recession, and the Brazilian impeachment. All that remains are its Millennial SJW children (i.e. non-working-class college-educated) focusing almost exclusively on cultural issues (appropriation! diversity!) and gender issues (marriage! restrooms!) but not inclusively as to economic issues (free trade! globalization!) like its parent. Time will tell if what happened on 11-9 will indeed cause it to return --- or not --- from whatever netherworld it was sent into by American Millennial apathy, disinterest, indifference.

For what it's worth, We actually did learn something valuable for the xmen: for at least the next four years minorities are not going to have a good time. So a franchise about an oppressed minority might do well to try and build on that.

While the xmen films have always had an undercurrent of racism, they've mostly been focused on a few supervillainish people who are kind of racist not really spending much time on how, mutants interact with the world. The only one that really dealt with mutants and society in general was 3 and it was simply ****. So if they focus more on a mutants in a world that hates and fears them, they could tap into that.

A more true to the original version of God loves, man kills would be perfect I think. A story telling how things became like th are in DOFP could also work, though I'm not sure if it's not to soon to revisit the o,d timeline. Maybe in the comics.

This ended how we all knew it would. For future reference I think discussing real world politics and X-Men is just fine but this might have been a little pre-mature.
    You brought back Wolverine

The CBR Community Standards a.k.a how to get along.
