Default Calexit California wanting to secede

The term Calexit was trending on Twitter after Trump was officially elected President. Unlike previous calls for secession from southern states over the years the Calexit would actually be beneficial to its citizenship. as the 6th largest economy in the world California could thrive as its own nation. It would be disastrous for the rest of the country though. I'm sure many red states would be all for it since without California's huge number of electoral votes there would probably never be another democratic president elected in the US.

You don't get to secede, period. It's foolish talk now, and it always was.

Water issues alone would likely torpedo this. But yeah we get this every election cycle we're just replacing Texas with California this year.

Well technically it could as illustrated in
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_v._White

However it can't do so unilaterally, meaning this Calexit stuff is a lot of nonsense, it'd need 2/3s Congress AND 2/3s of the other states to ratify it. And it's not getting those, ever.

California needs the US for water alone

The economy of California is not only the world's 6th largest economy, but also the largest in the United States.
It certainly won't be once interstate commerce becomes foreign commerce

The U.S. Armed Forces have a lot of bases in California.
And they'd either remain US bases or they'd leave along with all their equipment, personel, and the numerous jobs they supply the state, ditto for all that US property the Californian National Guard uses leaving them a toothless military presense. Anything and everything involving the military is Federal property, NOT state property,

California is the most populous state in America.
living in a largely semi arid state currently in the midst of one of the worst droughts in recent history

California accounts for nearly 90 percent of American wine production. 95% of United States avocado production and 80% of the U.S. production of figs. California is the largest dairy producer in the U.S.A. California produces 75 percent of all cantaloupes in the US
Know what all these industries have in common? They're extremely water intensive

I think it's worth noting that Democrat governor, Jerry Brown, turned around the economy after the disastrous Republican Arnold.

Not they cant. Most of the infrastructure is government property. The military is government property. They have no water. It is as stupid as the Texas talk after Obama was elected. It is literal children talking about taking their toys and going home.
