    Exactly.

Even though it never really sticks out as a "Carpenter" film, Christine is even pretty brilliant.

The Thing coming in First place with THey Live coming in a close Second. They live still has one of the best lines in Cinema history to me.

Prince of Darkness and In the Mouth of Madness are equally at the top for me. After that, Christine, The Thing, The Fog, Starman, and Village of the Damned.

It might not be his best but BTILC is definitely my favourite. Used to watch that movie nearly every weekend when I was a kid.

The Thing is my obvious favorite followed by Escape from New York, but frankly, I think Starman is a bit underrated. It's fairly deep and nowhere near as cutesy-wootsy as E.T.

Pretty much everything he did up through They Live was either good or great. Unfortunately after that I don't care for much beyond Mouth of Madness and Vampires (both of which I think are just okay).

Pretty much any of his films that aren't trying to be totally serious. Big Trouble, Escape from New York, They Live. Even Escape from LA!

His horror films like the Fog and the Thing just simply don't do it for me. Gimmicky and goofy, but trying to be serious. Blah!

Ok big caviat - Halloween is great!

In terms of my favorites, my top three are definitely:

    1) Halloween ( my all-time favorite movie ever)
    2) They Live
    3) The Fog

But this is Carpenter we're talking about. I love all of 'em!!

    Easy, Prince of Darkness.

    No, wait, Ghosts of Mars.

    Wait, I forgot about BTILC!

On the other hand, who can top Snake Plissken...

    ...ugh, this question sucks.
