Anyone remember Lisa Fischer's hauntingly beautiful "How Can I Ease The Pain," from 1991?
(Spent two weeks at # 1 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart, and peaked at # 11 on the magazine's Hot 100 chart)

Good lord, if sultry was a woman, a song, and a voice...this would be it.

Genuinely don't understand why people say this is a terrible video. It looks like two friends having fun in front of a blue screen. There are way worse and more boring music videos out there. I think Dennis and Siedah have mad chemistry here.

Take my dreams, childish and weak at the seams
Please don't analyze, please just be there for me

This is a really terrible video, but I'll be damned if it isn't fun:

A bit of personal forcasting here speaking of. Also a rocky video here, however very Cameo, it does pick nicely up with a dance number at 3 min mark. Top 3 Larry Blackmon record here for me. Loved the single lp cover when I was a kid, still have it.

Speaking of the greatness that is Cameo, had no idea that this is Vanity on the cover of this album:

That woman… Prince should’ve made it work.

Dawg... I listen to Questlove Supreme's pod and there's a Larry Blackmon episode that I got back into just last week. I just heard him talk about this. I didn't realize that either, RIP Denise Vanity Matthews, huge fan as a kid. She was with Prince at that time too.

Not ever real familiar with the Aligator Woman LP as a whole either, outside of Flirt, which was the jam too.
