If they really move from Steve to Bucky/Falcon for Cap... it could signal they would have no problem moving from T'challa to Shuri as BP later on as well.

If T'Challa ends up being as popular as I think he'll be after the release of the film, I suspect the MCU will keep him as BP for a very long time, ala RDJ/Tony Stark. Hence my Griot-Shuri prediction.

In fact...Shuri going through the Griot path doesn't negate her being a BP down the line (I doubt Shuri being a BP will ever happen, but I've obviously been wrong before). It might even help her case as far as convincing the audience that she is a worthy successor.

The Griot path just seems difficult the way Coates depicted it. It would be Marvel going super mystical with the franchise,which I am not sure they would do.

Maybe combine the two... shuri goes off into Wakanda's wilderness for plot reasons/find herself (similar to T'challa after Doom blew him apart). comes back with power ups from Magic... either in Griot form or like T'challas.

The MCU usually makes adjustments to make things fit to their films. If Shuri goes through the Griot route, it would def be adjusted.

The mystic/sorcerer upgrade is much more straightforward and would translate to the big screen very easily. However, wouldn't that result in Shuri basically having, more or less, the same power set as T'Challa? The Griot path results in her having a very different power set.

i've re-read Coates entire 1-12 and... good lord...

I hate the Djalia stuff. It is too long, too poetry-ish, shows up at weird times in the book. It is just a drag. You get pumped about the Crew and then... Djalia. In fact, a line shuri said in the comic sums it up for me,

"what is the point of this babble Mother"

THe book was simply trying to do too much to spend that much time on vague history poems.

But, the weird part is, the end result was great. Shuri is the best part of book when she is revived.

Re-read 1-12 as well a few days ago, and I completely agree with the bold. Much as I like the concept of it, it often interrupted the flow of many issues, especially #5 and #7. Not to mention, it was very long.

If I were to redo the book, I would put combine some of those Djalia stories and put them all in BP #8, being that Shuri's Djalia adventure and return was the main focus of that issue.

If the Griot path ever shows up in the big screen, I'm confident the MCU will keep it as short as possible. Possibly alter the journey altogether, in fact.

More like Ramonda's hair, but I agree with your overall point. Hoping they keep her hair black, regardless of length.

Most of us would be happy if Storm had Shuri's current hair from the start lol. That ain't happening anytime soon.

Yeah the Storm hair likely will be tough to translate in a live medium.

The visuals with the crow are potentially fun though. Worked for the Branson Lee movie (and Sting).
