CB were CRIMINALLY underrated. I saw them a couple of times live during the "Free" period and Johnette was amazing. She doesn't get anywhere near the credit she should as a indie rock songwriter of that era. Still love "Still In Hollywood" from the first album...
chord changes are very Iggy and the Stooges ( like scores American punk rock bands...)
Thirty years later, this song is still relevant...
There popular version of this song was of course the CB version Bloodletting, but here's the original by Wall of Voodoo singer Andy Prieboy ( with backup vocals from Johnette)
I guess because I don't see them mentioned and YT has such low views and no comments. I talk and people shrug.
Yeah, but I cant decide which CB song is my favorite it's either this, "Caroline" or "Tomorrow Wendy."
And it looks like you had a little marathon in here, ed! here, nice! Yes they really don't get enough recognition especially when talking of 80s and 90s music. I loved the Leonard Cohen cover as I loved the original.
Clips from "Pump up the Volume" in the vid. Christian Slater was really troubled back then supposedly and a real hot head. I still had a crush on him.
Bjork - Big Time Sensuality
Man her voice! She was a bit bizarre among an era people with long hair and jeans/flannel.
Don't forget The Sugarcubes! Whenever I hear "Regina" or "Birthday" I think of those slightly pre-Nirvana days when college rock/alternative rock had an audience but it wasn't recognized by the mass media yet.
Stone Roses
The Manchester scene...you had these guys, The Happy Mondays, and a few others, then Oasis came around and ruined things for everybody.
Just joking, I actually like Oasis!
This thread has been a bit light on the R.E.M so... from the band when Micheal had long hair.
R.E.M - Radio Free Europe
More old school REM
FNM...
