    Default Unused comic book covers

Inspired by the conversation going on in this week’s Cover Contest thread on an unused X-Men cover.
If anyone wants to post examples that’d be cool!

    _______________

Both these old Silver Surfer Covers are basically the same but the unused one’s more cluttered.

The cover for Carnage’s first appearances almost looked a little different. I kinda like the one they went w. more, w. both characters equally prominent.

This Batman Adventures annual is the first comic book appearance of Roxy Rocket but she wound up cut from the cover. The Hell?!?

Awesome! Reminds me of José Luis García-López & The Evolution of a cover

This one’s just full of little tweaks that make for a better cover.
Blob and Angel’s positioning is the biggest thing, but Beast is in a cooler position and his hand in front of the text box (and Angel’s wings behind it) opens up the action/adds a 3D feel. Jean and Vanisher both look way more dramatic in the finished piece.

Hopefully this counts, but my next choice would be...

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

They definitely made the right choice in changing this one, looks like Spidey is running in the first version.

I wonder about the rule change in the Comics Code, because both this "vampire" and Marvel's Morbius, "the Living Vampire" were based in science fiction rather than the supernatural and horror. So maybe both publishers were stepping lightly into the realm of the undead, without going too far down that road--just to see what would happen.

The "vampire" Dragorin is actually an alien on a micro-planet created by a mad scientist. Dragorin and his buddies got this way by watching too many of Count Floyd's "Monster Chiller Horror Theatre"--well, I'm inventing the part about Count Floyd, but the rest is true.
