LOL I had the George Clooney movie in mind from the Watch Mojo vid I recently watched (good or bad) when I posted Jesus Lizard. Ugh... sorry for the titles mistake.

Fugazi - Red Medicine. Fugazi was straight edge, meaning they didn't do drugs and drank little. Also, they charged unheard of cheap ticket prices to prove you don't have to bleed your fans and still make a good enough profit. They also wanted their poorer fans to be able to go to their concerts.

I remember having a Spin Magazine piece about how the band kept going back and forth about whether or not they wanted to give a proper interview with the mag, they didn't give a sit but, this ultimately became the article. It even mentioned how since the band didn't put out official merchandise, kids began wearing their own T-Shirts written with magic marker saying "This Is Not A Fugazi T-Shirt", and thus "This is Not a Fugazi Interview".

I guess the original version was by a person named Elton Motello, and it was covered by a number of artists. This and another version by someone I can't remember are the ones that stick in my head.



Of course, not to be confused with "Jet Boy" by the New York Dolls...

Wow, I hadn't thought about Shonen Knife for awhile! Back then though, I kind thought they would have been a little bigger in the States as they had folks like Nirvana championing them, but oh well.
