311 were kinda the poor man's Sublime.
There's a semi-famous story about how Scott Stamp from Creed was drunk and walked into the lobby where they were all staying and shouted "311! I am here to fight!" And everyone present was confused and weirded out.

THThere is a film about the CBGBs club with Alan Rickman and the Dead Boys were in it along with the Ramones. I found it quite good if anyone wants to watch it.

Speaking of the Clash, when they kicked Mick Jones out of the band, he formed Big Audio Dynamite with Don Letts. The first BAD album was was way better than the last Clash album Cut The Crap
For what it's worth, Joe and Paul made up with Mick as they did a cameo in a later vid.
