Adam and the Ants first album, Dirk Wears White Sox, was an absolute classic and this is one of the tracks off it... Such a shame how Adam Ant's musical taste went down hill once he had commercial success.

The video was a finalist for "Best Alternative Video" in the 1992 MTV's Video Music Awards but lost out to Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit". The '92 MTV VMAs were the best because of the feud between Cobain and Axl Rose. Cobain spit on Axl's piano...but the piano was actually Elton John's. Cobain trolled the broadcasters by starting to play "Rape Me" instead of the agreed upon "..Teen Spirit" or "Lithium". Nirvana's bassist's, Krist Novoselic, amp quit working so he threw his guitar...it bounced and almost knocked him out...he stumbled off the stage. Dave Grohl called out Axl Rose. Howard Stern was 'Fartman'. Truly a classic.

"(Nothing But) Flowers" came off the Talking Heads eighth and final studio album in 1988. Almost 20 years ago...



Fun fact: Johnny Marr, of The Smiths, played guitar on this track.

X was I guess the first of the early 80's LA hardcore punk bands to get mainstream critical acclaim. Of course, it didn't turn into much commercial success for them , but their first four or five albums have quality songs. They also had a side band called The Knitters where they did bluegrass songs. John Doe these days gets a fair amount of work as a character actor.



For what it worth, John and Excene were married but got divorced by the time this record came out. Punk rock Rumors?

The Cure was my favorite band.
Disintegration and Mixed Up (which I lovingly referred to as Disintegration disc 2) are two albums I still listen to often.

I was enamored by the post-modern rock era, mostly The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Church and Love and Rockets. With a little Smiths.

BTW, my favorite Cure songs were Pictures of You, Lovesong and Just Like Heaven. Just listening to them takes me to another place and time.

The Smiths! I remember when me and a friend first discovered the Smiths. We liked some of the songs, but we found Morrissey to be, um...quite the character. "Ask" is probably my favorite song but this video has Morrissey dancing in it.
