Ok, I don't know how I feel about the idea of this movie. I not an uber-fan, but I like some of The Smiths music. Having said that, I'm old enuff to remember 1987 and I remember who liked the Smiths and how they heard about the band, and what the band represented and the idea that The Smiths in particular could spark a mainstream "revolution" or that there'd be crowds cheering it on is a little absurd. I mean, c'mon...tons of Morrissey's are about being introverted...

If this were a serious drama about a troubled kid, maybe who self harmed or even struck out against society, it would make a lot more sense. But to make a "Woo! Rock N Roll! Fight For Your Right to Party" flick seems misguided.

While you have a pretty good point...

All I could think was -

"So, You Seriously Thought You Were Just Going To Sneak A Reworked Pump Up The Volume Past Me And I Wasn't Even Going To Notice?"

    Also...

Uh, let's just say that I can recall kids actually arguing about if The Smiths even were a good band. Never mind that it was an absolutely settled matter at the time.

SYFY's Deadly Class was getting it closer to "Right..." than this.

One other thing that seems kinda obvious...

The Smiths' record that actually was released that year?

It ain't exactly a platter full of "Rebellious Teen..." rallying cries.
