Midnighter and Apollo #3

They are back! What did everyone think of the issue?

I continue to love this book. I wish Orlando could write Midnighter forever. He's one of my favorites. What I loved about the issue was the theme of "games" running through it. We have Apollo in an actual game with Neron. Neron is trying to get Apollo to give in and surrender in a game for his soul. Then we have Midnighter playing an elaborate game of chess. He's lining up his pieces and preparing to storm Hell. I love the tactical way Midnighter thinks. Plus the nice little surprise at then end. I never thought that I would get to see something as crazy and awesome as Midnighter storming through Hell. Yet here we are and I'm so happy. It's a shame it's another mini. I'd love to see Midnighter and Apollo carry an ongoing book. Orlando just really seems to get these characters. They feel like the same guys Ellis wrote. I just can't say enough good things about this title.

I'm really enjoying it. I only started with these characters in 'Midnighter' (and Midnighter's guest gigs on Grayson), so I don't have a long history with them, but I like them both and the plot with hell. I hope it ends up being more than a miniseries.

I thought the game souls play with Death/Devil was chess. Must be the modern times. My only problem with the issue is that Midnighter talks about his tactial computer once every two pages. We got it, man, sheesh.
The rest, the tale is solid and adds more and more to the problems of both characters. (spoilers) Apollo's light fading away is a very nice touch, as well as the design of the demons.

I really hope Orlando gets more time with Midnighter after this mini.
