Is Homecoming ripping off Miles Morales?

No, it is part of a completely separate universe with the MCU, which has borrowed from both Ultimate and 616 Marvel in their various movies. Adaptations aren't perfect either, but they also shouldn't try to be either.

This list is pretty weak, 4 of these "points" are just different ways of pointing out the same Ned=Ganke similarities. The writer also tries hard to make the claim that Tony was never Peter's mentor by using more recent developments as arguments (they're mad at each other!) And the last one, claiming that using Shocker as a "minor villain" is a Miles story element is laughable. Shocker was a "minor villain" in like 90% of his appearances in the Ultimate Spider-Man title when Peter was still the lead. Bendis used him as a running joke.

pretty much this. when you adapt a property, you're essentially buying all the ingredients someone else experimented with to make a cake but now you get to decide which to use and which not and bake one similar but for a different party

Is Spider-man taking things from a Miles comic? You know, that other guy who's whole things is that he's that other Spider-man?

It's Spider-man's. It's his to take. The worst thing you can accuse him of it taking something back.

I never actually noticed the similarities on watching the trailer (other than 'Ned' reminding me of Ganke) but I kinda understand why they've taken inspiration from Miles for this particular iteration of the cinematic Spider-Man.

The Raimi series was basically adapted from the 60's and 70's era comics (apart from Venom, which Raimi half-heartedly adapted).

The Webb series borrowed heavily from Ultimate Spider-Man (but again, also, to a lesser extent, from the earliest 60's stories).

So in order to differentiate from both of the above, the MCU is going with elements from the other Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales - while also borrowing from the sources of the previous two franchises.

The inclusion isn't malicious, of course. They've included Ganke Leeds because he's a good character, and will provide a good foil to Peter. However it is including a vital element from Miles, who has what, five years of continuity? It's a different thing from Peter Parker, who has over 50 years of continuity. So I can readily understand why Miles fans are miffed. (Maybe, if Miles is introduced later as a supporting character in a later Spider-Man movie, he and Peter can share best friends )

That said, it will be nice to have a Spider-Man on screen who doesn't suffer terrible emotional isolation among his peers.

I remember a rumor about Marvel wanting to a Miles movie, but Sony vetoed the idea because they did not want to do a Spider-Man with a non white lead. In consequence Marvel just did a Miles with a Peter.
It looks like there was at least a bit of truth in that rumor.

It's definitely stealing from it a little bit. As much as they'll deny it, that character IS Ganke in all but name. Other than that though it's too early to say.

They are borrowing elements from Miles. But that's okay. It is the Spider-Man franchise.

As for the 50 years continuity comment, well it's the third reboot. Marvel doesn't want to completely ape Raimi and Webb. It's understandable that they want to make the film as different as possible from the other two.

Miles will get his shot. Probably anyways.

They'll probably never use Miles now because his origin story would just seem a rehash of homecoming and all the unique aspects that make him different are being handed to Peter...

So no we're probably never getting a Miles Morales movie because of Homecoming and the direction they're going with it.

Sad thing is the cast was already in place. Barring Tom Holland the entire cast would already be in a perfect place for a Miles Moralea movie.

Again, the Spider-Man franchise is ultimately the Peter Parker franchise.

Miles Morales is an off-shoot/spin-off character ultimately (pun intended!)

As far as introducing Miles down the lines goes...this is the idea I have and it involves the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse.

At some point, establish Miles on a parallel earth. This is the earth where the Raimi Spider-Man movies happened (and they can get Tobey to cameo as an older, possibly retired Peter Parker). And then have him crossover to the MCU during an adaptation of 'Spider-Men'. Except that now he and this Peter will be closer in age.
