Let's be fair. His characterization in First Class was good. He invented Cerebro and that plane. The shy, nerdy personality was nice. Wanting to look normal made sense. A small feud with Havok was alright. The transformation into Beast was good.

It was DoFP and Apocalypse that **** on everything and made him into this pathetic character whose sole purpose seemed to be supporting Xavier and pining after Mystique. No surprise there, Singer and regressing character development goes hand in hand.

I completely agree with this. He started off strong, but then he devolved.

This comment is itself "laughable". Maybe you didn't notice this but the comics are not the same as the films in any way. Show me the Disney-made movies which have a dark tone imitating the original Marvel comics. Please.

Captain America Winter Solder is right out of the Ed Brubaker run. The tone is spot on to those comics.

The Avengers movies capture the tone of the Avengers comics from the 60's and 70's, mixed with a little Ultimates.

That's one of the questions no one seems interested in asking: Who actually AUDITIONED for the part? Studios just put out casting calls, they very rarely actively seek out talent unless there's someone they're specifically wanting to pursue (typically a big-name talent).

You can't really cast one of those other actresses if they NEVER CAME IN TO READ.

I can't say who or how many people auditioned, but I do know that studio movies at that level, do not just announce auditions and see who show up. It all arranged in advance through the studios, agents etc... basically someone has to be 'invited' to audition (usually through the talent agencies) It's not just who happens to show up on any given day.

By the time this comes out, it'll be well within the MCU universe, or whatever MCU multiverse they create.

I think it depends on if Disney wants X-Men and Fantastic Four to be part of the MCU or not. If they do, rebooting those properties is the cleanest and most direct option. Which means no more direct sequels to anything that came before.

I am skeptical if X-Force winds up happening, despite the fact that Goddard is still attached to it. Obviously FOX isn't going to go dark and stop work on their movies until the deal is finalized. Its what happens once Disney gets full control, is the real question.

That is a very positive quote it suggests there is hope for a more gradual transition. I hope it's not just meaningless corporate PR BS though.
