The DCAU, Smallville and now the recent Supergirl series seem to ignore Maxima's psionic abilities and just make her another alien with super strength. Wonder why that is.

I don't know about the others, but her appearance in Supergirl was just a one-scene cameo which went all-out for the camp factor of the character.
