Default Odyssey of the Amazons Interview

    http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hea...7?sf46584598=1

Seems like this is really gonna open up the Amazon world to be very multi-cultural.

I wonder if fans of Azzarello and the New 52's more savage Amazons will pick this up, it seems right down their alley.

Multicultural Amazons, eh? I like it!

If this idea catches on, then this could be a potential goldmine for new female characters in the DCU. Bringing in female heroes and villains who are Amazons from other cultures all around the world would be pretty cool. Obviously, they want to make them different enough so that it doesn't look like "This woman is the Norse Wonder Woman! This woman is the African Wonder Woman!"

But yeah. I see potential in the idea.
Though much is taken, much abides; and though
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Sounds really cool and interesting .

Curious if Rucka will build-on any of the new mythology of the Amazons being introduced here...

So Hippolyta and Artemis will be apart of this?

Sounds like they'll make at least an appearance or two.

I want to be more excited for this, but... I dunno. I like Hessia, but I'd take any of the more classic amazons (Mala, Philippus, Euboea, Epione) over her any day. I like the idea of amazons from other cultures, but if this mini follows the Wonder Woman tradition, we'll never see any of the characters introduced in this comic again.

Hippolyta likely makes an appearance. Artemis, probably not. Considering this book is taking place before Diana's birth and Artemis, not being a Paradise Island native, is usually not an immortal.

The other Amazons are great, but I really want to know the circumstances of Hessia's banishment from Themyscira. Hopefully the decree that any Amazon that leaves the island forfeits their ability to return is revoked soon. I love those Paradise Island is imperiled and needs all hands on deck to defeat the enemy stories.

If this book definitely features Valkyries and Gundra doesn't make an appearance, I'm going to break something.

To be fair this takes place sometime before Christ so it's in keeping with that time period, I like the idea that the Amazons evolved into what they are now rather than having been created in one fell swoop by the Gods so I'm actually really looking forward to this

Have to say I ma curious why percieved bloodthirst needs to be a factor instead of, I dont know, a well written and/or good looking book?

They did state the Paradise Island Amazons will go out into the world and see if any Amazons are left. So I wonder if they will run into the Banas seems they have been mentioned.
